An American woman, identified only as Mrs. Nina, has disappeared while jet-skiing at Patong Beach in Phuket, Thailand. The incident has prompted a significant search effort as authorities seek to uncover what led to her mysterious absence.

Mrs. Nina rented a jet-ski from a local operator on Thursday at approximately 9:25 AM. She wore a life jacket and was expected to return after 25 minutes. However, when she failed to reappear, the concerned operators alerted the Patong Police at around 11:15 AM.

Rescue teams promptly began a search operation and soon discovered the jet-ski drifting roughly one kilometre from the shore. Onboard were Mrs. Nina’s belongings and a discarded life jacket. According to a nearby boat captain, she had removed the jacket and jumped into the sea, possibly for a swim.

The unfolding search involves local authorities and volunteers scouring both the sea and coastline for any trace of Mrs. Nina. The situation has raised concerns at the popular tourist spot, typically known for its safe recreational activities.

As the search intensifies, anyone with information about Mrs. Nina’s disappearance is encouraged to contact local authorities. This incident highlights the importance of safety measures when engaging in water sports, urging caution among tourists and residents alike, reported The Phuket Express.

I imagine 25 mins would be typical hire period for a jet-ski

My guess is that you want to maximize fun time on the jet-ski rather than "take a swim"

I find it boring after 10 minutes or so. Maybe the same for her?

Might have dropped her phone or some jewelry and tried to retrieve it?

Rather late response if she didn't return on time?

Those meaningless, almost mocking platitudes are getting really annoying.

  • News about waste issues: "Concerns about the pristine nature of Phuket..." → Trash is everywhere.
  • News about reckless Russian drivers: "Concerns about the well-known safety of Phuket..." → Hit-and-runs happen daily, no respect for the rules.
  • News about illegal activities: "Police are stepping up efforts to maintain Phuket's good image..." → Illegally working Russians on every corner.
  • News about black sludge draining into the ocean: "Citizens concerned about Phuket’s world-renowned white sandy beaches..." → Beaches are filthy, covered in plastic and trash, with untreated wastewater pouring straight into the sea.

Enough with the empty phrases. Stop trying to sell your readers for fools.
