Maybe but a properly trained security person should know how to defuse the situation, not take off his uniform and knock out a 62 year old, more than likely intoxicated, bloke.

Correct ..... they're just ex-cons ....no professionalism whatsoever ...

  • Seems to me, the he got what he deserved. Why in the world would somebody push on a security guard?

  • Sounds like the Brit thought he was a tough guy and confronted the guard. Seems the guard responded appropriately in defense and punched his lights out.  Well deserved,  hopefully a good lesson f

If you get to age 63 years and and you are fighting with bouncers outside nightclubs in Asia , you have made some wrong lifestyle choices somewhere along the way

All we know is that according to the video the guy attempted to push the security guard, that's no reason to hit somebody so hard that you knock them down. There are a dozen other things that this guy could have done to de-escalate the situation, and he should have been trained in the art of de-escalation. Just a swift slap across the face could have worked.

Anytime you punch somebody hard enough to knock them to the ground you run the risk of killing them. You just never know how that head is going to land on the pavement, and death is an occasional occurrence, once that happens.

So you could say this was attempted murder in the broadest sense. In the most literal sense it was sheer stupidity and a massive level of overreaction, which deserves severe punishment to both the security guard and the owner of the club.

Nostradamos once predicted, "one day a Brit will win a fight in Thailand" .

Looks like that "one day" is yet to come.

A lot,  when you have unprofessional security guards,  acting like thugs.

Hope the silly old sod recovers quickly .

Dunno, that's the first time I've heard of a guard taking his uniform/guard shirt off before clocking the idiot.. Seems a bit of professionalism there.

The incident began when the tourist approached the guard, seemingly intent on confrontation. Video footage shows the guard backing away before the tourist attempted to push him. In response, the guard delivered a forceful right hook that knocked the tourist unconscious.

Provoking someone.

But knocked out by single blow?

What a Loser.

Pattaya bar owners must have a business-death-wish. "Any trouble from tourists, beat them up! .... Derr ... ma bwain herts."

I think you meant "if there is any problems from drunks upsetting the regular customers then get rid of the disruptive drunks".

I see no issues. Brit ran his mouth and wanted a fight. Thai guy was restrained and didn't hit or kick him while he was down. Fair fight. Tough luck to the senior, he shouldn't spend checks his ass can't cash.

After reading these kind of things on here for years, personally I would avoid all contact with the security. Not going to end well.

If anybody knows this security guard let me know. Sounds like a guy who can take care of both himself and the  business he is paid to look after.

Just another night in Pattaya. No Thai bouncer is ever going to lose and if they are the whole pack will descend. Still seems very hard for Brit wanna be tough guys to understand.

My UK brother in law once told me many of these types are former football hooligans and they get bombed on Thai whisky and forget their age and the fact that the mob they used hang w

The once hard men of the Millwall Bushwackers have sadly faded away.

Well done to knock a few more of the scum out and stamp em up no return

btw that’s coming from a fellow Brit

I'm guessing liquor courage put the Old guy up to it. It's amazing what booze can do. The number 3 reason I quit drinking whiskey.

So, the young bar security man felt so threatened by the 62 year old man that he had to attack the old man with a punch knocking him out.

This Op sounds more like they are trying to justify the guards actions by using the guard sidestepping a push from an old man.

I thought these guard are supposed to know and have means to subdue a drunken old man without causing physical harm or damage to the old man? If I was the old man i would try to make a case against the guard for assault and bodily injury.

Why do the police permit such violent attacks to tourists over a simple push or attempted push?

Shame on the guard and the Police there.

This Thai bouncer did not seek any help from other Thais. The Brit clearly had no idea he was taking on someone who was not afraid to fight, and who had the skills to do so.

Remember the Indians partying on the plane on their way to LOS?

Thai immigration should make that mandatory.  Make all visitors consume some predetermined amount of booze on the plane so that upon debarkation they can be sorted into the rowdy-when-drunk and chill-when-drunk categories.

It's welcome to Thailand for the latter group, and back on the plane for the ride home for the former.

Head off a lot of grief that way.

And sell quite a bit of booze too I imagine!

You're welcome.
