It is really quite simple. If the US has an invested interest in the Ukraine minerals. Then we will do what we can to protect that investment from Russia taking over. Zelenski has a lot to gain from this. They want our money and weapons but they want it free and clear like Biden did. Just give them the money with no benefit to the US and they wanted to continue this tactic and keep the war going. for as long as possible. 

Whereas now, the money will stop unless the US can see some benefit that will help the US also. 

 

It does not take a lot of thought to see that if the US has money invested in the minerals there that they will also defend it.

Not a bad summary 🙂  Biden could have done the same thing but his party really didn't make that a possibility.  Still think the economy is going to tank which is by no means Trumps fault and the democratic party will blame him for it just as they are on the current inflation. He said he was willing to come to the negotiation table and work on a peace deal that lasts and also pointed out several areas that need to be addressed IF russia would also agree. But it has to be a full agreement not an open ended one without security like trump was stating in the press conference .   Its not quite what you imply in your post but Im sure it will be lost on the cultist that are cheering for the US to be mercenaries on the world stage. There is no dispute the US won the war but not in the way they would prefer to believe.

In WW3 physical location will not be the defence it once was.
