if you order a dish in Thailand and it's not cooked how you like it, would you send it back?

to the title ... only if the meat was undercooked.  I've only needed to do that once in 25 yrs.  Farang managed restaurant, now closed, as the Cordon Bleu was still raw in the center.  Just a one off oops, as was a regular, and food was always quite good.

They only have to be successful once .

They can keep trying and failing , but it just takes one time for them to get it right and be successful

Oh lads, look, it’s Blumpkin Bob back again, bravely waging his never-ending war against, alas, the horrors of… mild inconveniences in restaurants. Truly, mate, your struggle is beyond inspiring. Taking the world to new heights even. While the rest of us plebs are just out here barely existing, you’re on the frontlines, battling rogue cucumber slices, stray ice cubes, and the existential terror threat of a lightly grilled chicken breast.

Bankless Bob, you fragile little daffodil, have you ever stopped to consider that maybe, just maybe, the common denominator in all your tragic dining disasters… isn't Thailand? Because somehow, despite millions of people eating in the hub of nicely prepared chicken every day without issue, you are the only one who seems to be getting systematically poisoned, betrayed, and emotionally devastated by the local food scene.

And let’s be real, Bludgeoning Bob, are you actually being served raw steaks and uncooked chicken on a regular basis? Or are we just dealing with another chapter of The Adventures of Bob, the Perpetual Serial Victim of Bad Intentions, where every minor inconvenience is dialed up to 11 on a scale of 1-10 just so that you can stomp your feet, shat your shorts, and demand that an entire country “get its bleedin’ act together”?

Thailand isn’t the problem here, Bruv. It’s just another day, and you’re still mad. Cry even harder and soon enough Thailand is bound to have some empathy for all your unmatched moaning one of these days...

Hope you get a nice dose of food poisoning soon, so you know exactly what I am talking about bruv/chumps....

regards,

bob.

'Pro' of sending back your dish cause it's not 'properly' cooked; they may actually do it. 'Con', they may spit into your dish (or worse)... 😆

rub their balls in it, you mean?

Never send anything back if it goes out of your sight.
What happens in the kitchen stays in the kitchen

I once had a mango shake and noticed it had a fly in it.
They said they would make a new one but in the reflection of a glass cabinet i could see they fished it out with their fingers and brought it back .
Never drank it and never went there again.

For me it is a resounding yes.

Countless times i've ordered thai food not spicy, then too spicy, steaks medium well, then raw, burgers cooked well done, then raw in the middle.

curries not spicy, blew my firggin head off.

beer with no ice, comes in a glass filled with ice.

pizza with no pineapple, theres pineapple all over the shop.

the worst and most dangerous is under-cooked chicken. many times ive sent chicken back that was still pink inside, that is extremely dangerous and could actually kill someone.

time to up your game, thailand.

get your bleedin act together!

bob.

Only happened twice and it was not Thai food but rather overpriced, undercooked, western "cuisine",

But I would send you back every time!

Too spicy is never a problem, as if not familiar with the venue, I'll order it not spicy, since I travel with cayenne pepper in my bag :coffee1:

If I order SomTam, it's always SomTam Tai, and it's no chili, as I know plenty of residual chili will be in the bowl they make it in.  Depending what ordered, I say 1 even a half a chili only.  When specifying, they usually get it right.  If saying not much or medium, they''ll fry your tongue.

I can always add chili, and cayenne is half the Scoville level as the Thai bird's eye chili, 50k vs 100k.  Way too acidic for me.

Next "Bob bulletin" will be moaning about why so many of his local restaurants will not serve him!

We already had to live thru that one,he was denied service in a bar for speaking Thai.

I went to a restaurant about 17 years ago in Korat and ordered a filet minion medium well. I did so knowing that cooks tend to undercook steaks so I expected to have a nice medium steak.  I got the steak on a plate swimming in blood.  I sent it back.  The staff we beyond impolite.  They were unhappy.  In retrospect they probably "lost face."  Sending a steak back in the US was never, ever was a problem.  Like I said, you can undercook a steak and fix it.  You can't overcook a steak and fix it. So I expect uncooked meat. Anyway, got the steak back still in a pool of blood. They didn't give me a new plate, just plopped it back in the now cold pool of blood.  I'm sure they did that on purpose.
I got up, paid for the meal, and left vowing never to return or recommend that restaurant to anyone.  I even wrote the farang owner who offered me a free meal.  I didn't take him up on it, not because of anything he did - he did the right thing and tried to make it right.  But rude, impolite, and unaccommodating staff are a business-killer. Food can be fixed, but I don't abide by rude staff. Someone needed to be fired. Especially for the price I paid for that meal - multiples of what the staff gets paid. That only happens once and you lose my business for good. That restaurant lost my business for good.

Face is without a doubt the worst facet of Thai culture.

When an adult cannot admit that they are wrong and apologize, then they are nothing but mere children.
