How is toast made?

With a toaster... Set at medium to dark toast.

Not by waving bread over a candle

many things they haven't got a clue how to do.  Sausages are never cooked properly on those stupid electric grills.  Everything that's suppose to be cooked brown and crispy is just warmed or heated up.

Love me some toast, with butter and bovril.

Making a sandwich, cheese + beetroot or tuna and onion etc, always toast the bread and no butter.

Occasionally toast a couple of slices of raisin bread with some vintage cheddar.

My trusty 4 seater from Otto is still going strong after many years service, the temperature control gave up long ago but the deed is done in the time it takes to boil the kettle !

The problem is the toaster

This is an issue at my folks in the UK...    the toaster is half the size of the toast !!!

And if you want to toast a nice slice of Giraffe or Tiger Bread - forget it...

Agreed....   Food in general in Thailand is incredible... the range and quality...

But when it comes to Breakfast - the offerings are 'generally' very poor...  particularly in many hotels.

The same goes for Thai deserts - Thailand does Western deserts very well, but Thai deserts are awful (IMO of course).

When I first came here, I struggled to get 'decent bread' at all... it was all sweet...  things have changed a lot and there has been a great deal of improvement.

------------

I recall being away at work, remote location, we had our own chef... I wanted Poached Egg on Toast....

... It took over week to get it right....  starting out with frying an egg in water !!!

That said, in most hotel breakfasts (decent hotels) - ask for Eggs Benedict and the Chef seems to wake up and put in that 'extra effort' to get it right....

Toast starts with bread, and I have found any decent wholemeal bread in Thailand, so toast suffers

You put your left foot in and you shake it all about - you do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around - that's what it's all about...

ps - you can add the assistance of a toaster or candle - your choice.

They'll have a bit of a tan when it's switched on.

And then there are the brave souls who lie the pop-up toaster on its side to make toast and cheese.

yes,  I got it years ago at a garage sale,  the owners were moving and wanted to sell all their kitchen appliances.    only things is isn't automatic,  it's old like me !

In Kad Manee market in Chiang Mai there is stand that does toast grilled on charcoal with various toppings Even this the Thais do better than the West.

it looks mighty fine too ....    i like sausages cooked properly,   you'd be hard pressed to get toast cooked like yours in Thailand,  that's how I cook it also.

Toast cooked in Sharpe pop-up toaster.

Sausages cooked in air fryer.

Baked beans cooked in rice cooker.

That was my breakfast this morning.

Yeah but why in rice cooker? rather than a saucepan

Safety Reminder:

When using an electric toaster there is a danger of electrocution if you aren't careful. My friend made a bunch of small wooden tongs to retrieve stuck items.

Here I am using them to pull out the fork I got stuck.
