It's confined to certain designated areas, for the most part, and those are easily avoidable depending upon where you want to go and what you want to do. Malaysia has none of this nonsense.

March 10, 20251 yr Bang Saphan in PKK. Anyone wanting to get involved heads 25km north to Baan Krood where it's full on. Stay at Suan Luang beach and you'll never know its madness elsewhere.

March 11, 20251 yr Hang the water splashing, I want to know where is the best place to go to for "spaghetti strap tops"! Mind you, spaghetti strap tops and water splashing, now there is a thought!
March 11, 20251 yr If it weren't for the blocks of ice in the water, I'd almost enjoy a day of it. Not 3-4 days of it with all the ice.

Three places I've been during Songkran which are chaos, Pattaya, Kanchanaburi and Bang Saen. Pattaya being the worst, it's mayhem and drags on for a week to a greater or lesser extent. If you're a Songkran lover, Pattaya's definitely your place.

I deliberately stay local during Songcran as I know all it will take is some Farang to throw water over me and there will be severe consequences.
