March 19, 2025Mar 19 Hi Guys, Was to immigration (Chaiyaphum) today with a friend (Norwegian) this in order to extend his extension from last year for another year. I think I am fairy knowledable when it comes to general knowledge of the system but here is one thing that REALLY made me troubled. We gave the officer all documents for this norwegian guy. and quickly he started to talk about E-Visa and online. This offcicer who was completely useless in english he ovetalked me and of course turned to my friends thai-lady. She is worthless also in english so I could not get any answer att all from them. I do not understand this thing with E-visa OK I know that you apply for VISA in our home-countries online (E-visa, but that is all. I doubt very much that an extension of stay can be done on line. Can anyone of you guys help me out here with your thoughts. what was he talking about??? Is it really so that extension can be done online via E-Visa. I would be very happy for any responses. TGhank you so much..
March 19, 2025Mar 19 Does your friend actually meet the requirements to obtain a new extension? Retirement? There is nothing to be done with the e-visa system relating to an extension.
March 19, 2025Mar 19 No idea what you are asking. Visas for Thailand such as Non O visas etc are now obtained via the e-Visa platform. Your friend was attending immigration for annual extension. That is unrelated to e-Visa. Presumably he has current permission of stay. What was end result? Did he obtain 12 month extension? The only thing I can think of that would make the immigration officer talk about e-Visa is if your friend did not satisfy the requirements for extension and the io was outlining means to obtain a new Non O

No, we have to go home, my friend did not check his income-letter properly, which had the wrong passport-number on it... hahahaha <deleted>..... But I am happy with your answers - I was afraid that I was totally lost in this.....

So the extension was refused. No offense but cannot understand how the incorrect passport info was not noticed. Embassy income letter is very simple statement Includes name of person passport number, where pp issued and date of issue. Your friend didn't check that! Also how did that occur. So when does current permission of stay end (expiry shown on stamp) If the friend had some days remaining then why the io would bring up e-Visa, I have no idea.
March 19, 2025Mar 19 Author Yes it was extremely stupid of my friend not to check the paperwork more careful. But done is done and I will take him back as soon as his norwegian embassy have sent over the noew imcomeletter with the correct information on it. B.t.w. his extension expire 17 april 2025... Again thanks for your support. now at least I know that I hjaven´t missed out on anything about this E-visa stuff. All good.

There is a system that allows some visa status extensions to be done online but the term "E-Extension" has been distorted to "VFS e-visa", the online application is currently handled by VFS. https://miceoss.tceb.or.th/en/the-service-for-extending-thailand-visas-for-foreigners-can-be-done-online-through-thailand-visa-e-extension/ This is completely different to the global e-visa system implemented by the MFA and now in use at neighbouring countries. https://www.thaievisa.go.th/

And there is also 12 points for people valid to be able to apply for this. He is just a guy who lives here 6 months a year with a thai ID and a yellow Tabien baan. So I think we can forget that stuff for now But many thanks for your input and help

Personally I think a bit strange to mention e-visa in the other context, would have thought something like "go outside, get new visa" more likely. Hope it gets sorted ok.
