So, prior to his inauguration, just 1200 people in the UK had a negative view of him.  That does not translate to "most decent people in the UK disliking Trump or the US at this stage.

Unlike in countries that don't listen to voters, at least petitioners in the UK can force their parliament to debate something important. I understand that the government might need to trade with the USA but except for Nigel Farage I imagine some politicians might not be keen the orange one's visit. Airing voters opinions is good now and then. Unanimity is impossible to achieve anywhere except in dictatorships.

Trump is certainly doing a lot more to secure his country from illegal immigration than any politician is or has been doing for the UK, he will certainly have the support there from those who think that is an issue too.
