That's not true is it? If you bothered to watch the video, you'll see a foreigner fast approaching, just before it cuts off.

I guess I am a coward, but I would not jump in if I saw 10 guys attacking another foreigner.

The odds are still stacked against you and pretty soon those same 10 guys will be attacking you.

I don't believe in street thuggery. I"m not a cop.

Even cops get themselves killed sometimes, despite having guns.

I guess more chance of me been there, since I live in Pattaya, then someone who lives a mere 1200km away, and is just trying to stir the pot with his controversial comments.

You live in Pattaya, but are you surprised to see a foreigner on Beach Road at 4 a.m.? You must not go out much at night. Beach Road is packed with people at 4 a.m.

Judging from numerous Facebook and YouTube comments, it appears that most Thais agree with what happened to him. Below, I’ve shared some of the most "liked" comments from Thais across various social media platforms:

- "I don't support violence, but these freeloaders have gotten used to it. Go all out."

- *"Was this foreigner prosecuted when they assaulted a Thai person?"

- *"When they break the law, authorities hesitate to punish them harshly for fear of damaging the country's tourism reputation. So, do locals end up taking matters into their own hands instead?"

- *"Excellent!"* 😊

You mean like, he started beating up 10 guys, and they only acted in self-defense?

Regardless of what is left out of the story, there is NEVER an excuse for 10 cowards beating up 1 guy.

And why is there any mention of the damage this does to Thailand's reputation? Focus should be on whether the assailants have been captured and are being held and why they attacked the foreigner.

you don't need 10 against 1 unless you are a group of undisciplined cowards. This is a Thai thing unless someone else here can say otherwise.

I'm saying otherwise.  To say that incidents such as this where more than one attacks another person are only a Thai thing is ridiculous.

If there is any doubt about the locals' unguarded feelings toward foreigners.  Take a good look at some of the water throwing hate-fest Songkran in Pattaya.

The only people who threw water on me during Songkran were two giggling Western males in their late 20s. The Thais refused to do it out of respect for my age.

The first time I came here it was for Songkran, where I met my now ex wife. I was 62 then and they had me soaked din a few minutes. I expected it so was fine with it. If you don't want to get wet, you have to stay in your car until you get to where you're going, hopefully not a place with revelers lined up.

Again an example of a great family oriented place there must be more to this

Why do these stories all start.   "around 4am in the morning...."

To be fair to them, it must be hard to be a sub-80 IQ man with a tiny member, seeing all these moneyed tourists coming and paying for sex with your ex-girlfriends.

And your sisters

Even if the guy had done something wrong surly it doesn't need a thug gang of 10 motorbike taxi drivers to kick the <deleted>e out of 1 guy

Local police in Pattaya swiftly arrested three suspects involved in the assault, which has tarnished the city's reputation as a tourist destination.

🤣 Do me a favour, and let me know when Pattaya's reputation was first tarnished as a tourist destination, and how many incidents have been reported on AN over the past 2 weeks which confirms that the "tarnishing" goes on and on!

And 10 Thais onto 1 "farang" seems just over par for the course!

Those huge tourist cities, the locals just see you as a mark.  The innocent days of Thailand have been over for years. Just getting worse by the day.

It is not possible to tarnish the reputation of Pattaya beyond where it already is, it seems like at least from news reports a good percentage of the nation's crime seems to happen there, and certainly a good percentage of the crime committed against foreigners seems to happen in Pattaya.

It's a little hard for me to wrap my mind around something like this, there is a lot of violence here, but 99.9% of it is Thai on Thai. I hesitate to blame the victim, but it's very hard for me to imagine that an attack of this nature was totally unprovoked.

Regardless it was callous disregard for another human, and the attack seems to have been pretty horrific, and perpetrated by morally bankruptless and cowardly fools.

"...........a good percentage of the nation's crime seems to happen there, and certainly a good percentage of the crime committed against foreigners seems to happen in Pattaya."

I got taken to task by a Pattaya apologist a few months ago for saying exactly that, and was falsely accused of never having been there! (I have - once - for 3 days - never again!)
