Drowning Claims Lives of Two Young Girls in Rayong
Picture from responders Two young girls drowned in a large reservoir, in Rayong after attempting to save each other. The incident occurred at approximately 15:00 on March 25, when authorities from Pluak Daeng Police Station were alerted to reports of two missing children in a large reservoir located in Mab Yang Phor 23, Mab Yang Phor Subdistrict, Pluak Daeng District, Rayong. Rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene. The reservoir, is approximately 6 meters deep, and two young girls, a 5-year-old and a 13-year-old, both Cambodian nationals, lost their lives. According to an 8-year-old Cambodian boy, who witnessed the events, several children were playing in the reservoir, when the 5-year-old girl was struggling to stay afloat. In an attempt to save her, the 13-year-old girl jumped in to assist, but both girls were overcome by the effort and drowned together. As the girls went under, other children nearby attempted to help by throwing a plastic bottle into the water, hoping the girls would grab hold of it to float to safety. However, the two girls were holding each other and slipped beneath the surface, never to resurface. Rescue teams searched the reservoir for the two girls and after about 15 minutes, the bodies were located and recovered. The girls were brought ashore, where authorities and forensic experts conducted an initial examination before transferring the bodies to Pluak Daeng Hospital for a full autopsy. -- 2025-03-26 -

Armed Gang Robs Store in Phuket Workers’ Camp, Stealing Nearly One Million Baht
Picture captured from CCTV. A gang of four armed robbers stormed a store inside a workers’ camp in Thalang district, Phuket, restraining the shopkeeper before making off with cash and gold jewellery worth nearly one million baht. The incident occurred at 12:30 on 25 March, prompting Lieutenant Anusart Klinkiew, an investigator at Thalang Police Station, to report the case to Police Colonel Nikorn Chuthong, the station chief. Officers, including Police Lieutenant Precha Rakchan, were dispatched to the scene. The victim, identified as 45-year-old Tan Da U, a Myanmar national who operates the shop for her employer, recounted the terrifying ordeal. She was alone in the store when four men wearing motorcycle helmets entered, threatened her, and shut the door. The robbers tied her hands, feet, and mouth before ransacking the shop. The gang stole 120,000 baht in cash, three gold necklaces weighing a total of eight baht, a gold bracelet, two gold rings, a pair of gold earrings, and a Samsung mobile phone, amounting to nearly one million baht. They then fled the scene on two motorcycles, one black-red and one blue-black Honda Wave, both with unknown license plates. Police are reviewing CCTV footage and working with forensic teams to identify and apprehend the suspects. The robbers’ nationalities and identities remain unknown at this stage. Authorities have vowed to expedite the investigation and bring those responsible to justice. -- 2025-03-26
