Special shout out to the haters , the terrorist supporters  , you’re losers than & now.

God Bless America !

It is not the "left" which is destroying/changing/reshaping the world as we know it

It is one egomaniacal undereducated RW bloated clown and his self interested acolytes.

He cannot hold a thought beyond the span of a goldfish, so his advisors are the most dangerous and self interested

Read some J Hirschfeld Davis or Michael Shear to get an insight into the psychopathy of the incumbent of the Oval Office

Ray was one of the greatest singers ever.

Unmistakeable voice.

A genius and timeless as they come.

And a junkie. He rode the white horse while writing at performing at his peak.

And how sick that a MAGA cult member would refer to a man addicted to opioids. Sick because the MAGA collective wants to punish such people, and even to publicly execute them. No treatment, no compassion, but harsh punishment. And then along comes some MAGA  cult member to sing a recovering addict's praise.  Sick indeed.

It's only natural for non Americans to be jealous.  They always have been.

You have the world's highest prison population. 40% of you are classed as obese, 70% are overweight. Mass shootings are a matter of routine. Our medication costs are a small fraction of yours.  As an Australian, my average life expectancy is almost 6 years longer than yours.

Please tell me what I have to be jealous of, I'm all ears.

Have you ever been to America?  It's not a homogeneous place, if I can use that term.  There are over 300 million people in America, and just as many "Americas."  People immigrated there from all over the world, including many Europeans. They brought with them ideas and talent and money from just about everywhere.  And they were educated.

This is about as false as any historical generalization can be. Actually the people who came to America in the heyday of immigration were mostly poor people fleeing the vastly unequal societies of Europe. Scots feeling the enclosure laws, Germans fleeing conscription, religious persecution, and limited agricultural opportunities, the Irish fleeing famine and the miserable status inflicted on them as Catholics by the British, Jews fleeing persecution and unequal treatment, Slavs fleeing their general miserable economic status and so on.  It was in America that they got educated and that was due to the influence of the Founding Fathers who strongly promoted public education. When de Tocqueville came to America he was astonished by the high level of literacy he found among most Americans, not just the wealthy.

Have you got the link to where he actually said those words, phrased like that?

HIs quote isn't correct but here's one that is:

“We’ll get Greenland. Yeah, 100%,” Trump said, adding that there is a “good possibility that we could do it without military force” but that he wouldn’t “take anything off the table.”

Do you see a substantive difference?

Yes, I do, and I know that his quote was not correct, that's why I asked him for a link.

There's a big difference between saying that a country "will be taken using military force if necessary" and what Trump has actually said.  Similar words but they have different meanings with entirely different intent.

Big difference? Really? Trump claims it's 100% certain that the US will acquire Greenland. He refuses to rule out using military force. So if peaceful means prevail, what other means remain? Why refuse to rule out military force?

EDIT: Should have written "if peaceful means don't prevail"

Pure fiction. The so-called "left" is a mythical creation of right-wing fanatics who cling to outdated political ideas which have little bearing on modern conditions. The "far-left" are nothing but a bunch of "New Dealers".  No more leftist than the FDR administration. Republicans are adept at creating "demons" who are supposedly sending America straight to Hell. Ignore them and move forward.

Yes, indeed, riclag, part of the genius of Ray Charles was that he combined white country and western music with R&B, he was not above singing white country and western songs. None of that hatred of whites some Rappers today have. Which is ironic of course because in Ray Charles day blacks really had it much worse, segregation was a real thing. It is almost as if as the better people have it, the more full of hatred and evil they become. It was the same with my Thai gf, she had everything she wanted living with me, did not have to do any work, was looked after and all her bills were paid and she hated me for it, hated her life.

I think your timeline perhaps needs to be adjusted?  You seemed to have left out at least 100 years. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitutional Convention and all that (the formation of the American Republic) took place well before the "heyday of immigration" you're talking about that began in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.  That's when most of my relatives showed up.  Like yours, I would suspect.  The idea that was America existed from the beginning.

I'm not too sure about my mom's mother's side of the family. I saw one photo of some of them once, taken in upstate New York sometime around 1850 or 1860. English and French Canadian and German.  How and when they came to North America, I'm not sure.  My mom's father? Italian. From Calabria. His father immigrated to the US in the late 1880s, to work as a kid. The Erie Canal or maybe on the railroad.  He returned to Italy and later brought back an entire family around 1900 or so.  A wife and five kids. I think all of the kids died as millionaires, back when a million dollars was a lot of money.  So, from poor in Calabria to wealthy and  very well educated in America. Not bad.  Harvard Law. MIT, that kind of education.  Give people an opportunity, and they'll take it. That was America.

On my father's side, all Italian. Rome for my father's father and Sicily for my father's mother. They met in America. Lots of uncles and cousins from that side of the family, and they all did very well in America. I'll skip the details, but again, you probably couldn't make that kind of progress anywhere else in the world.

Yes, big difference between what some poster here claims he said and what he actually said.  He did not say that he will take Greenland using military force if necessary.

Is now a good time to remind MAGA cult members that the Trump fortune got its start in Canada where Trump patriarch Friedrich Trumpf ran a brothel aka whorehouse hotel? Trump crossed the border much like the migrants his grandson now condemns and  profited from the proceeds of pandering and pimping. He was eventually forced out as the RCMP was told to put an end to such amoral activity. He returned to Germany and then  went to the USA.

https://www.ctvnews.ca/world/article/trump-family-fortune-began-in-a-canadian-brothel-hotel/

In effect Canada  has been the  birthplace of much US wealth. And the US  responds with a lack of gratitude. Chrysler, Edison, and Musk, Walt Disney, Warner Brothers, Louis B. Mayer,  and others. Even  MAGA  idols like Ted Cruz and Tucker Carlson have their origins in Canada. It is sort of like what  Jimmy Carter's brother about white southerners all having an Nword in the woodpile and that's why one shouldn't be predjudiced against afro americans..

But logically speaking, since it's 100% certain that the US will acquire Greenland  there is no other possible conclusion to draw. Of course he could be lying. Just as he could be lying if he said what was claimed he said. Or maybe not even lying, just shooting off his mouth in the usual way

Large scale Scottish immigration, which I mentioned began in the late 17th century but really took off early in the 18th century. And even before that, many immigrants came as indentured servants. They worked for x number of years to pay off the cost of passage without any remuneration.

Indentured servitude in British America was the prominent system of labor in the British American colonies until it was eventually supplanted by slavery.[1] During its time, the system was so prominent that more than half of all immigrants to British colonies south of New England were white servants, and that nearly half of total white immigration to the Thirteen Colonies came under indenture.[2

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indentured_servitude_in_British_America

These were obviously not wealthy, educated people.
