In a poignant admission, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt has publicly apologised after rescue teams failed to locate a woman whose cries for help were heard beneath the debris of a collapsed structure in Chatuchak district on April 2. Despite concentrated rescue efforts on April 3 in Zone B, where potential signs of life were detected, insurmountable obstacles impeded access.

 

Chadchart expressed deep regret over the inability to reach those trapped, stating, "We apologise to the public for not being able to reach those believed to be trapped. We detected signs of life and tried relentlessly, but by midnight, further efforts were deemed futile due to the obstacles."

 

During a press briefing today, Chadchart confirmed the discovery of two bodies in Zone D, emphasising that recovery operations are ongoing, hindered by unstable conditions. Assurances were given that the victims would be recovered and returned to their families safely.

 

 

 

Rescue operations have intensified, with heavy machinery deployed to clear debris from Zones C and D. To ensure safety and thoroughness, water spraying and ventilation systems manage heat, while advanced cameras and international rescue experts aid the search. Operations paused briefly at 4.30am when heat levels became unsafe.

 

In support, Deputy Bangkok Governor Tavida Kamolvej announced the presence of mental health teams providing counselling to survivors and families of the missing. The emotional stress has been exacerbated by misinformation on social media, including false reports of additional survivors, which have been debunked.

 

The situation remains fraught with challenges, but authorities continue their commitment to rescuing any remaining trapped individuals and supporting those affected by this tragedy, reported The Thaiger.

Maybe next time contracts come up for development you will pay more attention to those involved.

Are Italian Thai and the Chinese Railway company assisting in the rescue operation?

 

Both companies have access to heavy equipment and staff  they use during their construction operations throughout Thailand that could be temporarily diverted to help.

 

i have heard no mention of their involvement, except for the four Chinese caught trying to remove documents.

We know life is not that important in this culture. So rather than 100% focus on saving lives they diluted focus onto other things such as heat, breaks, discussions, taking photos of themselves and their team for their next annual report etc. pathetic. 

At least Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt has apologised.

Have any Thai government ministries/departments involved in this project done anything?

Last time I checked, there were some 70+ people still listed as missing / unaccounted for in the rubble of the project.

 

AFAIK, other than a handful of rescues of living souls that occurred in the day or two after the quake, there have been few if any rescues of living souls in the ensuing days after that.

 

AFAIK, all the recent media reports about "breakthroughs" and signs of life being heard have resulted in nothing tangible (rescues of living souls) in recent days up to this point.

 

At least among the misc. Thai news reports I've been reading lately (including the OP here), most don't even mention any more the count of those still listed as missing, apparently preferring not to remind readers of that sad tally.
