That's kind of him assuming China still want to do business with him at all!

Nice point.

Seems to me Mr Xi / China has many cards up their sleeves and will at the right time reveal strategies that will give trump a heart attack.

iPhunes are not essential.

We need to quickly ramp up production in India, and other countries, in order to offset the need to buy from China during the coming war of XI.

After war begins, maybe over Taiwan, China probably will not be exporting much to North America, Australia, and the EU.

And on who's side will India and the rest of the world be on after the stupidity of this so called Trump administration?

It seems as if he has now created a new Barnum & Bailey Circus!

Nobody now knows what the US trade policies are, assuming they have any, anymore!

How any business with dealings with the US can make even short term plans, never mind long term ones, during this self inflicted turmoil, is beyond belief.

No, its you derangement sufferers that are in perpetual turmoil from the constatnt bull and negatively you read on the mainstream media. Most of you have acted the same daily for the last 9yrs.

75 countries looking to negotiate the tariffs, lets see what that brings.

Thank you both for sharing your feelings with us. Still, this forum is supposed to be about political issues, not our feelings or lack of them. I suggest you look for other venues on aseannow.com where this kind of sharing is more appropriate. Good luck in your journeys!

Many of the exempted products, including hard drives and computer processors, are not generally made in the United States and Trump argues tariffs are a way to bring domestic manufacturing back.

And I can just see the American working man assembling printed circuit boards for a couple of dollars an hour....yeah right! Get real you Maga goobers cos there was a reason that these computer parts were manufactured in China

And this blonde bimbo supports the felon's every word and yet said she wouldn't lie!! Lied again!!!!!!!

Strange that they refuse to make the list public, isn't it, although it are actually many many more than 75. hahaha. Do you also smell that rat?

The White House told NBC News that it will not release a list of the countries, despite several requests. On Wednesday, Trump took to Truth Social to say that he was pausing tariffs on “more than 75 countries” for 90 days before adding that it was “many more than 75” who want to make a deal.

So you should be happy that theyre paused then right...but I doubt it.... you never will be!!

I can fully understand if the white house keep things close to their chest, look how the media reacts, hysterical, sensationalised, over dramatic negative  BS fed to the delusional derangement posse

When I first read your post I immediately assumed you were referring to harissfan and had not "connected"  it the the poster you quote!

Either/or/both are a total waste of space with nothing to do with their so called "lives"!

Such that all they (if one or two or more) do all day is post their continuous irrelevant pointless comments to score their so called "likes" and "post" totals!

PS; I deliberately did not link to harrisfan (etc) as that would just boost their miniscule egos.

Best not to reply to them directly IMO.

You have been posting here under your current profile since Feb. In not even 2 months you have managed to make approx 50 percent of the comments I have.

Yet here you are going on about me sitting all day posting for numbers.

Ahhhhhh.

Fake news.

Smartphones, computers and electronics are not "spared". They will just go into a different tariff bucket.

Trump just posted on social media.

As more and more products that are used by millions found to be on the tariff list, Trump will most likely exempt those too and before you know it almost everything from there will be exempt or China will continue to reap trillions on those products.  Meanwhile all the things the US was sending to them have now been replaced by the products from Canada, japan, S. Korea or other countries.

like I said many times, Trump the greatest negotiator but look, now the stuff we were selling to them and making money have been replaced by those products from other countries

I heard that too but I was wondering why Trump would want to wait a month or two before announcing this so called new sector tariff. Why not keep it at the current tariff and then transfer it to the new bucket later?

I think it’s a load of crock, especially coming from the BS’er commerce secretary.

Fake news? The administration released that information. Now they're saying something else. Who knows what that will turn out to be? More of what the private sector loves: constant message changes. Because it's so exciting to make plans when you don't know what's going to happen next.

This is actually what he currently claims, but if there were no exceptions, then they would be on a 145% tariff instead of a 20%, not?

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/live/trump-tariffs-live-updates-trump-team-sow-confusion-on-reported-exemptions-for-cell-phones-electronics-191201399.html

There was no Tariff “exception” announced on Friday. These products are subject to the existing 20% Fentanyl Tariffs, and they are just moving to a different Tariff “bucket.” The Fake News knows this, but refuses to report it. We are taking a look at Semiconductors and the WHOLE ELECTRONICS SUPPLY CHAIN in the upcoming National Security Tariff Investigations.

The point is these items will not be exempted from tariffs. As always Trump is very consistent and equitable.

Not at the moment, I think as regards China it's only 10% for a short while to see if China wants to secure a deal. Then the 20% tariffs DO kick in, but IN ADDITION these items will be slapped with tariffs in the semiconductor bucket.

I hope this helps clear it up.

My quote was a statement made by the US administration, so I guess you are as deranged as Trump himself.

No need to answer, as I know the answer from your post history

Steve Jobs explained to President Obama in 2011 why iphones could not be made in the US and nothing has changed.

I'm waiting for / expecting one or several strong well organized clever EU countries to rise up and smack trump around his ears and kill his tariff games, and I have no doubt they can do just that.

well if they keep changing the "current" fad, it is hard for one to get organized against it.  when the play master has no idea and is waiting for his next brain fart to change the game, then who knows what will happen?
