This was long time ago, so I may not remember all details correctly, but I thought that he allegedly kicked her in the back, not the stomach.

Also, I don't remember any report that she was pregnant at the time.

agree, in all that we read, never a kick in the stomach and never that she was pregnant or married even.

Did they ever look into his elephant sanctuary and how he was affording a million bht a month rent for his house 🤔🙄

Yes, they did.

All elephants except one were "rented" from peasants in the Province who use them to work their land.

So, not a real "sanctuary"...

The "stairs" were illegaly build by him on public beach land and thus he had no right to them.

He has money...

Seems like most on this thread find it inconsequential to kick a Thai woman's butt.

Coming soon to Thailand?

Isn't this story already a couple years old

So the accusation that he kicked a pregnant woman in the stomach because she was sitting on a stairway would happen to every foreigner in Thailand?

You just made this up yourself that she was pregnant?

The Swiss man has handled the whole matter badly from the start. If people sitting on the steps was a problem, then he could have put up a barrier and a notice. If he slipped and kicked the woman accidentally, he should have apologised. When the matter got out of hand, he could have gone on Hone Krasae on Channel 33 and had the case arbitrated and settled amicably live on television. He could have avoided an escalation to prosecution easily. Now he's being stupid by not attending a court hearing. If he gets kicked out of the country, he only has himself to blame.

Maybe an envelope in the right direction could have sorted this matter long ago.

This case was dismissed in a previous court hearing. The vindictive doctor felt badly done too hence the appeal.

If this minor assault at best had been committed by a Thai this would have been settled at the police station.

The best news after Thai New Year.

Looks like his "connection" which allowed him walk free previously expired.

This kingdom doesn't want 1st world trash like that thing.

Jail that SO* and, then deport.

She was not pregnant. This was a minor assault at the most.

The knives are out for the Swiss guy.

Don't gloat this could happen to any Foreigner here.

The doctor was sitting on the stairs of his property.

Not quite.

First, it was a rental property (according to the press at the time).

Then, the steps were built illegally on beach land.

They have since been destroyed.

As  always, it seems that there is no 'black and white' in this situation.

Yeah - he had the stairs built - but they were on PUBLIC property (and supposedly were removed by the city afterwards).

And wasn't it recorded that he (and his wife) verbally abused the woman BEFORE kicking her ?

For the crime of sitting on "his" (illegaly built) steps.

In front of his million baht/month rented villa, where he lives while running an "elephant sanctuary" and acting like a mobster.

Kind of makes you wonder of the locals have even considered contacting the Swiss authorities to see if he's "known" to them.

I hope you are never victimised by a revengeful Thai for a minor assault. This case  already tried and dismissed by a previous court.

Whether the Swiss man kicked her in the back or in the stomach, or whether the doctor was pregnant or not, and notwithstanding the earlier court decision dismissing the case, his thuggish behaviour was unacceptable in Thailand, or anywhere else.

Use your big brain!

Don't let the drink control your thoughts and actions.

Don't F with Thai people and lay low!

Also, avoid the  law and attorneys at all costs.

Applies anywhere in the world. Common sense.

Found him and deport him leww lewwww

I'm sure prior to the kick most locals didn't care in the slightest what he did, as long as it didn't affect them.

It could have been settled there and then without police when she offered to both mutually apologise and walk away. He refused as he thought he could bully her because he's a "big man".

He picked the wrong woman to try to bully. Good on her, he's a coward.

If only he'd allowed the mutual apology none of this would ever have happened - he only has himself to blame and so he deserves everything he gets.

Kicking a woman when you're a guest in her country? Minor issue?? I don't think so.

I thought this case had been dropped.

Regarding the land in this case, it was public; not his personal property.

He illegally modified the place  he doesn't own.

And kicked a local sitting there while anyone has a right to be there.

Surprisingly, he filmed own crime (documenting own assault).

Foreigners with common sense usually won't attack locals spontaneously (unless it is for self-defense).

I would have thought that his lawyer could have appeared for this appeal hearing.  For no one to show is stupid and disrespectful towards the court.  I wonder what his lawyers advice was on this hearing.... 🙄

Some absolutely stupid comments coming here. Forget race for a moment and look at facts. Note there is video of the act,,, taken by him, that's the first indication he's a fool. He kicked a women because she was sitting on a step he believed was his property on a very quiet beach, that's the second foolish move. He obviously thought she was a local noodle seller, not an educated Thai Doctor....  I don't blame her for 1. being unsatisfied with the first verdict, 2 every country has higher courts, she is well within her rights to seek justice. He obviously regards himself as a rich Thai,,, above the law,,,, Red bull heir he is not.... He could have said hello to her and commented on the lovely sunset, instead he was a complete dickhead.
