If your realistic age cohort to select from is 58+, a lot of those women have checked out from sex for good.  Plus they will be fussier. Not to mention less good-looking and more old-looking.  

 

So: a lot more downsides and a lot less upsides. Not unlike their view of me as a 72 year old catch.

 

And a lot less candidates over all. Twice as many old men want relationships as old women do. There is no male term for cat lady. There are plenty of women who have happily replaced the prospect of you with a cat. They very specifically do not want to cohabit; a Cameroni-must.

 

I've only very recently started passively looking. I think I'll be looking a long time.  I've decentered having a romantic relationship as a life focus. More fitness, writing, and travel. Stuff I know is a sure winner, not another blind ally.

And I'm not even really particularly trying.

Character is my no 1 thing to look for. After that a cute face or bum.

Probably low for some, but in the past 15 years I have banged probably 1000 women.  The majority here I find so much better then western women who seem to not know how to properly clean their privates. Lack of frequent showers and Toilet paper stuck everywhere so gross.  And, the constant excuses and don't do this or that.  Entitled thinking that they don't have to satisfy a man's needs.

Anyway, as a world traveler I find Thailand as one of the best places in the world for satisfying sex.  Works for me very happy here.

Plus now it is, contrary to common mythology, also younger guys who travel to SE Asia to get women, and all those East Europeans have come with their blue and gray eyes the Thai girls love. So actually it's harder than ever now.

 

Having said that, at age 72, there is not reason not to look. There are women who have daddy issues and like older guys, there are women who have sex with fat guys that are repulsive, so even the physical disadvantage at 72 can be overcome.

 

Your attitude is realistic, fitness is key, good dress sense and having finances in order. A good social life. Those things will help.

My western ex wife is 62. She put up an ad on Bumble for friends only. She got hundreds of replies from hopeful oldies.

 

I go out with someone I met in real life about once a month. If it ant a hell yeah, it's a hell no. So far, it's WhatsApp buddies.

 

Such is life. I'm losing a pound a week mostly by swimming. I'm front loading my bucket list travel.  My days are for me alone. I can even envision missing that if I hook up with someone up the road.

Yeah, I met a guy like this. I could scarcely believe my ears. They like to be pampered and mommied. Plus the older women must try like hell in bed with a young guy.

 

You'r wife's experience is normal, women, if they are not fat and unattractive, will still have tons of DMs from guys on dating apps and Insta. It is far easier for a woman to hook with someone, which is why they are less loyal and initiate divorce far more. They know they can easily replace. Men's thirst is just much higher than women's.

Suggestion:

Find one with a government job, Thai social security, and a guaranteed pension at 60.  Worry about looks and sex later.
Heck, she may even be celibate.  No problems.  You say you are an experienced long-time expat right.  Short-time flings are a satang a dozen and don't involve any emotional baggage, well, unless you're stupid.  Damper down the excess testosterone in 90 minutes or less, and then enjoy your love life with your Thai wife.  ❤️

Of course you are.  One thing I've learned in 70 something years of existence - sex has little if anything to do with love. But it does get in the way.  Don't confuse the two. And love isn't what you think love is.

And don't be a romantic.  Thai women, like most women on this planet, hook up with a guy for security.

Be like other smart expats.  Don't confuse love and sex.  Finding a gal who is a winner is gonna be difficult if you're looking for Love & Sex in one package.  I'm not saying that don't exist, but it is a rare animal, sorta like a unicorn.

So go find an older Thai gal with an established career ( I started with with a government job, Thai social security, and a guaranteed pension at 60 - Why? They then have skin in the game).  Get to know her and make sure she's for real and not bull-goose loonie. Get to know her family. Hang out with her for however long it takes to make sure that you can get along.  That's important!  Then she's a keeper.  If she can overlook your occasional forte to the shower massage for a quickie, good.  If she lets you have a gig, even better. 

So in summary - dump whatever silly Western notion of "Love" you have in your head.  You may be 70, but you are still are thinking like a 20 year old Western kid.  Stop! You'll be happier.
