Bruce Lee was a fraud - Jeet Kune Do, Krav Maga, Kung Fu - all useless in a rea fight

Featured Replies

Bruce Lee was more actor than fighter, no film of him fighting a combative fight. There is one clip of him fighting a student but none of the stories of him fighting other well known people can be verified, he was a fake as far as professional fights were concerned.

His films look like absolute garbage today.

I still believe the best option is not to fight at all.

  • Lol, Xu Xiaodong has let his hands do the talking. He has challenged Chinese Kung Fu "masters" and defeated every single one. Usually in less than 2 minutes 40 seconds.   Kung Fu is useless.

Actually more than a few to view, even one of Lee losing to a Muay Thai fighter :coffee1:

I'm sure y'all are much better than me or Lee, but I certainly wouldn't hop in the ring with him.

The Tao of Jeet Kune Do

Bruce Lee makes some very shallow observations about Muay Thai which show he had very little exposure to this discipline.. For instance he wrote that low kicks would be useless against a moving target, which is clearly wrong.

Any links?

He's not going to spar for real in a seminar showing an aspect or principle is he ?

You'd be lain flat in I estimate under 5 seconds...old he may be, but his strength and skill or beyond your loud mouth.

Your loud mouth can talk and talk - but again, that's all it is.

He has methods to end fights with BJJ guys etc in seconds, they are just no allowed in cage fighting.

Anyway, enjoy the all walk and no talk debate with others, I'm off to have fun vs the fighting debate with some faceless person on here...haha.

Please, it'd be Mike Tyson vs Paul Logan all over again. Carruther is an old man, he's 66, almost 70. I'm 13 years younger.

Yah,  I'm sure, and Bruce Lee had an invisible punch. Against a compliant guy sitting in a chair. Lol. So much bs from all these Kung Fu and JKD people.

Yes, it's funny how all these great victories by Bruce Lee in real life are only recounted by his pals. Nobody ever filmed them. No evidence apart from hearsay. Nothing.

Haha, you have literally no idea of his hitting power now.

He was a pro boxer before and a bouncer as well. I find it hliarous that assume with age comes diminshed skills, more like mastery.

You do not even share what you do and how long....give us a laugh.

Steve 'n' Seagulls isn't a guy. Band's name is a playful twist on actor Steven Seagal's name, reflecting their humorous approach to music:

Krav maga

I thought it was krap MAGA.

If just sports combat and purely hand to hand then lots of others are good such as judo, sambo, lethwei (and all kickboxing styles really).

Some of the kung fu styles are actually much more effective than everything else you and I mentioned since they practice with weapons. In a real fight that will prove to be much more useful than trying to get a guy in a 'spinning backfist monkey paw triangle hold' while three of his friends are stomping you out.

I think I do, he's 66 his "hitting power" must be akin to a 15 year old girl now.

Mike Tyson too was a pro boxer before. Perhaps the best that ever was. Yet look how pitifully he got his a$$ kicked by a nobody like Paul Logan. And Tyson's only 58, Carruthers who was a nobody in boxing is 66!

I trained full contact Karate since 1990. Wayne Otto was my teacher. He has 9 world championships and an OBE and a 5th Dan.  Apart from Uechi-Ryu Karate I also hold belts in Bujinkai Karate. I would not feel comfortable taking on Carruthers as I'd probably injure him since he's 66 years old.

Judo is highly effective, particularly for grappling on the floor and is used in MMA.

Kung Fu does purport to be effective against weapons, which is why it is so dangerous to rely on Kung Fu, because if you trust your Kung Fu techniques will help you prevail in a knife fight you will probably die.

I don't know how much police are willing to fight for you, when I asked them to prosecute the 304 who took my 20000 baht out of my wallet the police were about as useful as a love vow from a Pattaya bar girl.

Now that we have empirical evidence with MMA, it has been found that certain "martial arts" are in fact useless a real fight. This list of useless martial arts includes Chinese Kung Fu, Israeli Krav Maga, Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do and also Korean Taekwondo.

The martial arts that actually prove useful in a real fight are Boxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu.

That was Miyagi San in Karate Kid. Such a great movie.

That's nothing compared to what Chinese Kung Fu masters claimed to be able to do.

"Wei boasted of using an invisible force field to keep a dove on his hand, and pulverizing a watermelon’s innards without damaging its skin. The idea that masters of kung fu achieve mystical skills is widely accepted in China; Wei is just one of many making such claims.

A quick glance on YouTube reveals kung fu masters with claims of telekinesis and “shamanic dances that open up other realms of existence.” Some make money by promising to train others, and many have passionate disciples; the defeated Wei, for example, has 94,000 followers on China’s Twitter-like microblog Weibo."

Its nice when you are old and they start doing that Martial arts stuff at you, makes it easier to plead self defense after you bury a few 45acp hollowpoints in his chest.

No mention of Ecky-thump so must still be held in high regard.

I am just concerned that those who practice Krav Maga, Kung Fu or Taekwondo may believe that their "art" protects them in a real street fight.

Unbelievable BS? Did you practice your fighting speech long time? 😂

It all has to do with who is the better fighter. Of course, between equal fighters one might get an advantage with the knowledge of a certain martial art. This guy you talk about, just happens to combine a way and strategy of fighting, which makes him very good. Nothing else.
