This morning's high at Ko Kret, down somewhat from last night 🙂

Some nice big tide ranges coming which should, hopefully, aid in getting the water into the gulf.

  • Yet another donation of flooding aid, this one apparently from their Majesties the King and Queen (hence their photo).   My son from the UK being used as a beast of burden.

  • Our first "flood relief"  was just delivered. Small boy with a cart brought us two packs of bottled water.   He went away with a 4 pack of yoghurt and a huge smile!!

  • If anyone has data or live monitoring sites please post here. The more the merrier.   Let's keep everyone informed and keep our feet dry!

Local high tide this morning.

About 90cm below our "worry" level, but these things have a nasty habit of changing rapidly.

And for comparison, this morning's low tide.

I noticed yesterday the Guff was sitting pretty high, and against the seawall in some areas.    It's that time of year.  Hope there's not much rainfall north of you.

Madam tells me that there are people upstream in Ayutthaya complaining that the dams have increased their discharge rate leading to flooding.

Meanwhile the restaurant car park is flooded so only delivery service available at present 😞

You'd think that after about 6 decades of experience, trying to manage water, they'd get it right.  Not like Sept & Oct rainfall should come as a surprise.

http://water.eon-solution.com/waterlevel01/public/live.php will get you the live pictures.  If you go there you will eventually get the live level …well it works for me

There are supposed to be other cameras too, but the EON one at Ko Kret is the only one i can get to work.

If anyone has working links for other flood related cameras please post.

https://www.thaiwater.net/ is worth a look but it can be a bit slow and confusing.

Gemini AI says: -

Unfortunately, specific, real-time data on the water levels and discharge rates of all dams in Thailand for today, May 14, 2025, is not readily available in a single, comprehensive source. The information is often spread across various reports and updates from different agencies.

However, based on the available information, we can provide some insights and comparisons with data from last year (2024):

Current Situation (May 14, 2025):

  • Major Dams: Thaiwater.net provides some current levels for major dams:
    • Bhumibol Dam: Current level is at 55% of normal capacity (27% usable storage).
    • Sirikit Dam: Current level is at 58% of normal capacity (28% usable storage).
    • Pa Sak Jorasit Dam: Current level is at 21% of normal capacity (21% usable storage). This indicates a significantly lower level compared to the other two major dams.
    • Wachiralongkorn Dam: Current level is at 59% of normal capacity (25% usable storage).
  • Chao Phraya River Basin: Reports from early May 2025 indicated a rising water level in the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok due to increased discharge from upstream, with northern runoffs around 1,900 cubic meters per second.

  •

Aren't the "major" dams power-generation dams? What matters for flooding purposes is discharge-regulating dams, like the Chao Phraya Dam (now at 2,100 cubic meters).

Please don't hesitate to post your own sources and images, the more data the better particularly from the upstream regions so we can see what's heading our way.

High last night, some upness, although if it stays around these levels no serious issues.

High this morning, down slightly.

Despite the above, our local level is up slightly at 75cm below "worry".

I think I'll move the flood-cam for a better view of the Green house reference.

Floodcam repositioned (had to go and buy some more CAT-6), much better view of the Green House and spirit house reference points.

Local high, pretty stable at present, could do with it being a bit lower so we could re-open the restaurant.

Flood cam, about 75cm below our "worry" level.

Peak level last evening.

Up somewhat, this peak was also rather later than I would expect high tide to be so it looks like the water from t'north is arriving.

Watching closely.

Last night, high but reaonably stable although a general upwards trend is worrying.

image.png.59c218c1b2e56fcc7132a62497bb57b3.png

Next large tides around the 11th.

EDIT 6AM update

Now it's getting light, floodcam image.

My dipstick says we are 67cm below "worry" level.

Big storm and rain heading for t'north, hopefully when the water arrives here the big tides will have gone.

We just got a mobile phone warning that the upstream dams have increased their discharge rate.

If nothing else it does prove that the Emergency Message System works, even a visitor from Bangkok got the warning.

Move stuff to higher ground!

Unfortunately I wasn't able to screen capture the message 😞

The local authorities have also been out in their loudspeaker-boat with the same message.

EDIT Got a screenshot and translation.

Looks like my friends in Egypt have a similar issue.

It's only recently Cairo were complaining that not enough water was being released!

I knew I'd seen the abbreviation GERD somewhere else https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/gerd/symptoms-causes/syc-20361940 rather apt really.

Lots of potentially useful information here https://telerid.rid.go.th/#/

All in Thai of course but it does work with Chrome/Google Translate.

That is an incredible amount of information - what a great resource!
