He didn't do jack sh!t to help win ANY war. He dodged the draft for the only war he could have helped with, letting my friends die in his place.
Yes, America helped solve the problem. 47 just instigates them.

Trump has NEVER failed to take credit for the accomplishments of others.

D-Day was a unified invasion with soldiers from 12 countries working together to defeat the enemy.

Took Hitler's war machine six weeks to conquer France. It's inarguable that the US's entry into WW II changed the tide of the war.

The only reason it entered was because of Pearl Harbor. Otherwise, the USA would have been content to sit back and profit from the war.

Clueless clown. Time to end the circus.

The USA tried very hard to keep out of it while enriching its arms industry by billions. At the end of the war only the USA emerged with its economy enhanced. In fact the arms sales to Europe finally dragged the USA out of the lingering legacy of the great depression. Europe, especially the UK bankrupted itself holding off German aggression and the first US troops did not arrive until 1943 when the tide in Europe had turned.

Sure, but how many of those diehard fans hid under the bleachers during phys.ed. when they picked sides for volleyball and had their daddy pay off the school nurse to write them a hall pass to get out of civics class ?

Quite so, and it was the Russians who were on the ground and won the war.

For several years Russia begged the US, and the UK, to open a second front to help defeat Germany.

For years the US and UK cowardly refused, letting Russia bleed herself out and losing 20 million men.

Only when Germany was clearly on the road to certain defeat did the Americans and British dare to open that second front in Normandy. Years after Russia asked them to.

If you want to know who contributed the most to win WWII you just have to look at the casualty figures.

WW2casualties.jpg.ad853206cf612081f43ae0e0a4220712.jpg

These figures do not mention Australia and New Zealand stats.
we lost many in both Europe and Japan.

Rewriting history in order to accommodate his megalomania.

Like Biden's dementia got worse while he was in office, Trump's megalomania gets worse the longer he's in office. I can imagine what he'll be spouting by 2028. His megalomania will probably provoke a World War by then.

Many would view Trump’s remarks as distasteful and disrespectful, particularly given the context.

Mocking the commemorations of V-E Day, which honors the sacrifice and cooperation of Allied nations in defeating Nazi Germany, can be deeply offensive to countries like France, which suffered heavy civilian and military losses, endured Nazi occupation, and played a role in the resistance. Downplaying their experience or mocking their pride in liberation is likely to strike a nerve, especially in Europe, where the scars of WWII remain very present in public memory.

Also, imitating a foreign leader's accent—even jokingly—tends to be seen as undiplomatic and culturally insensitive, especially for someone who has held the office of President of the United States.

More broadly, Trump’s tone—sarcastic, dismissive, and self-congratulatory—undermines the spirit of unity that defined the Allied efforts in WWII. While it's true that the U.S. played a decisive role, the war was won through the collective sacrifice of multiple nations. Presidents and leaders are typically expected to honor that shared history with respect and humility.

Many observers—especially veterans, historians, and international partners—would find these comments inappropriate, if not offensive.

No, actually the boom period that followed 1945 benefitted all Western countries greatly, not just the US. The UK, Germany, France, Japan, all benefitted from the post war boom tremendously. It lasted for over two decades.

Everybody got richer after WWII.

It's just the UK was spending the riches of India for pomp and ceremony, but it was never that rich. As was evident after it gave up India.

I don't thnk so. The oil embargo on Japan was a calculated blow to Japan aimed to provoke it to go to war. The US must have known that a Japan starved off oil would have to resort to war.

Just another confirmation that having money does not equate with having class.

Neither does having money equate with having intelligence, or even knowing when to be quiet or when to speak out.

Good point. Whilst Rommel greatly admired Australian soldiers  it should also be noted that Australia lost 40,000 men roughly, almost four times Belgian military losses.

That's still a very small number even compared with the UK and US, which was too small to be considered by the makers of that data.

The US was involved before Pearl Harbor just hadn't officially  declared war. You obviously do not know your history regarding WWII. I suggest you research the the Atlantic  convoy crossings going from the US to the UK and the "lend lease" program. It is true that Pearl Harbor was the catalyst for the US declaring war on Japan and then Germany but it's equally as true to say the US were already involved. BTW The World at War a 26 part series narrated by Sir Laurence Olivier is IMHO the definitive WW II documentary.

Cue Liberal meltdown. 😄

Libs hate nothing more than the truth.

Great speech Mr Trump.

The ultimate coward and absolute non patriot lecturing about WWII. It would be amusing if it were not so pathetic. This guy is such a loser. Such an abomimation. Such a hater. He is the opposite of a good leader.

I wonder just how many here have actually studied the real history of the second or even the first world wars instead of learning it from mostly Hollywood fictional films albeit based on actual events.

Just how is he a coward ?

Because he didn't volunteer to go fight in an unjust war that most would agree was one of the USA's biggest military mistakes since WW2, at the time.  Waste of millions of lives, including almost 60k American soldiers killed, and 1000's more soldiers & famly's lives ruined.

Seems like an intelligent move to me.  Know many that made the mistake of not taking a holiday to Canada till over.   From my small hometown alone ...

As I posted above. The World at War is a fantastic 26 part documentary about WWII. There are of course many others. Sadly some people simply will not educate themselves. Many of these would fall into the sheeple category.

Or a selfish move by someone who doesn't actually want to serve their country but only serve themself. He didn't volunteer because he dodged.

I supposed he could have run north to the 51st state.

Dying for no reason, is not serving your country.  And he didn't 'dodge' anything.  Stop with the false narratives.

It is my opinion to which I am entitled.

i think what America did for the war effort - issuing loans - making money off of someone else's misery....only coming in at the last minute...is often overlooked .Why does that form the basis of a special relationship? Why does that special relationship require UK to alienate  China ...?
