Yep. Spot on. Sadly faith overrides rationality. Evidence is not needed.

What if we no longer die? (apart from suicide, murder, accidents)

Longevity Escape Velocity is a term being used by folks in AI who claim they will cure all diseases and reverse aging. So Longevity Escape Velocity means every year you keep yourself alive, the technology keeps you alive x years longer until it becomes infinite and you live "forever" ....

Could be science fiction nonsense ... are they just trying to sell stocks?

knowing I will die, makes life precious and valuable. Not everyone had or got the same chance in life as many of us. Still many abuse their chances in life.

Yes, less religion, or the twisting there of, means less violence, as many crimes have been committed in the name of religion, which is just their narratives and not what religion is supposed to be about. True that most people in prison are believers.

And you to Google more, so you can understand that opinions mean nothing, and Catholic churches aren't the reason some priests go after boys.

For sure, many people are brainwashed at an early age, nut not everyone.

In any event, what do you say about the people who can recall past lives?  People who can recall people they've never met, places they've never visited, all in perfect detail and all accurate.  Or what about the time travelers?  Some of those people tell stories that are pretty convincing.

And what about the fatuous in all their varieties?

 You're at it again.

Most think we will see God, that there's a heaven.

BS. Fact free assertion.

No one can prove otherwise...

You don't get it. If I say. "There are aliens living at the centre of the moon", it's up to me to supply supporting evidence; it is not up to anyone to show that it is false..

That one cannot prove a negative was shown by Karl Popper in 1930.

- Prove that blue elephants exist. That is easily done - produce one.

- Prove that blue elephants do not exist. Can't be done.

...so it's best not to argue the subject.

Rubbish. Now and then, the facts will sink in, and someone will walk away from the lies and nonsense, and start thinking for themselves.

And your evasion of my "malaria" argument is what religious people are good at - intellectual dishonesty. You turned it into talk about mosquitos, and later falsely claimed to have not ignored it.

To repeat:

Malaria kills about a million infants a year. The infants cannot have knowingly sinned. Now, god could, by his fiat, make malaria harmless. He does not do so. The only rational conclusion is that he wishes to slaughter millions of infants. He is, by definition, the world''s greatest serial-killer.

To be fair, there is another possibility - god is a bumbler who stuffed things up bigtime

So which one is it?

- god wishes to slaughter infants

- god doesn't know what he is doing

- there is no god

At what again? I stated what his question was. Some people believe in an afterlife and some don't. No one has proof either way, so it's best not to argue about it. That some try to convince others there isn't a God isn't going to work, falling of deaf ears. There are no facts that dismiss a God, only other's opinions, most of which come from parents who didn't believe, or those who've experienced loss and blamed God, so they turned away from him. Believers do believe we all will see God. That's not BS. It's what we believe.

Some believe scientists opinions without any factual evidence about the universe's creation.

People already think for themselves believing in God. Some yes, are sheep, and follow because that's what they've been taught, but the same goes for non believers and who taught them, sheep also.

God didn't make Malaria harmless, just as he allowed cancer to happen, along with narcissism, depression, diabetes and a number of other ailments. You're again calling him a serial killer, but people die everyday from all manner of things, including natural causes, which means our life just ended because we, again, aren't supposed to live forever, again, because there is a life after this one and this one is a test. Forever is a lot longer than a mere100 years.

God knows exactly what he's doing. You have no idea what his plan is and couldn't guess because your mind isn't that far advanced, and neither is anyone else's. So, to us who believe, what you say is rubbish, as you can't prove otherwise.

Please show evidence of this without using the bible.

Just a guess that makes a lot of sense. We've all heard Jesus is returning soon, and the earth is slowly coming to it's end, as far as sustaining human life, especially if things stay the same, which they likely will. If Jesus is coming soon, the world being the size it is and on it's way out, would make sense, as a world the size of Jupiter would have much more resources for its population, and would last a lot longer.

What I find amusing is that the evangelical hellfire & brimestone holy-rollers and the "there's-nothing-after-you-die-but-annihilation" nihilist are usually as equally strident in supporting their own views.  Both end up sounding like fingernails raked across a chalkboard.

If there was a church close I might go, but having a personal relationship is most important. Why do some like you waste so much energy trying to convince others in their belief system? That's clogging things up for the majority who are believers, and it doesn't convince anyone to change to a belief in nothing.

The majority do not believe in your version of sky fairies.

Two thirds of respondents around the world claim they are religious. Slightly more people believe in God and there is a life after death – according to a majority around the world. A majority also agree that there is a heaven and hell (although we are more confident in the “Good place” than the “Bad one”). Whether religious or not most people seem to believe that there is some mighty power beyond our understanding – a God.................................  https://gallup-international.com/survey-results-and-news/survey-result/more-prone-to-believe-in-god-than-identify-as-religious-more-likely-to-believe-in-heaven-than-in-hell

I don't have a belief system. Saying God doesn't exist is not a belief. I know leprechauns don't exist. I don't believe leprechauns don't exist.

Then where does our consciousness go after we die?

Or are we just pretending not to be afraid of the answer?

Life’s rhythms are like coconuts falling in their own time—it’s not absolute or predictable down to the second, but there’s a natural rhythm or pattern. Just like coconuts, things happen when they’re ready, not always when we want them to. Holding on to this mindset helps with patience and letting go. I’m aware other mindsets exist too, but personally, I find those less favorable. I don’t want to force the flow of life into a neat box—I prefer to choose one that feels most nourishing. Riding the usual waves rather than fighting them brought me underneath the coconut tree. Until my time comes, I prefer to go coconuts.

Religions have both good and bad, depending on who's doing the teachings.

And take you're opinions and do likewise, as the believers here aren't listening. By the way, I don't thump bibles, and neither does a lot of believers. We are supposed to spread the word, and not force it down throats. Some do, and that doesn't help. I proved you wrong, and that link shows the stats, and you can find it in a lot of places. Over 2/3 is quite the majority.

Waking up from coma can be your brain releases chemicals, same when people see Jesus during the gospel, drugs,

Christ sake I have been in space several times out of different tastes of toxins, and twice going over the edge freezing, where first time a bliss with colours, lights and peace, and the second time just pure blackout.

Don't need religion to be good. People have the capacity to do this without some sort of guidance from a book and those that preach their particular interpretations of said book. .

Many have clinically died and saw heaven, including children who told of family they saw but never knew about. This is the testimony from a Burmese monk who was dead for days, ready to be cremated, and came back. Of course some will say it's BS but that's what some will say even if they saw God in the clouds when he comes.................

Yes, being a good person starts in childhood. It doesn't take a belief in anything besides doing the right things in life. Belief in God is what ensures where you go in the afterlife, and that's what people don't like to believe for a few reasons.

Belief in the afterlife (Heaven) is religions way to make sure you conform. Don't conform then it's eternal damnation for you. What a nice God. You believe in me otherwise you will burn for eternity.
