If you are wondering why Bob is so down on Thailand and angry all the time take a look. Here he is in action. 🤣

I think it is great he asks and wants to know about the other AN members in a personal way.

I am from another country...

I do this and that and a few other things to utilize my time properly

I have been in Thailand for a long time..

I hope you also share your details with all of us. It would be interesting to see the differences.

It's the same old spiel, time and time again when one is forced to interact with a local.

Is this how they are taught to interact with foreigners when they are at school?

Your question just reminded me of a song the Prathom 6 Thai female teachers used to teach the "students" - when I worked as an English "teacher" (TIC) many years ago: "Where are you come from; where do you go"?

Don't know, as I never use taxis

So how do you get to the airport / get around in Bkk when far away from public transport?

While good, this picture is kind of getting old.  Now shown nearly everyday in some post...

Same same as on the forum.

I certainly can’t blame them.

Why would I care about a taxi driver?

What does he have to offer me in terms of intellectual expansion? and for that matter, what does a bar girl have to offer?

But it's you that started the thread about thais only asking you the same three questions while you ask nothing. And then implying that it says a lot about Thais while ignoring what it says about you.

I've been asked the same question (slightly modified or course) thousands of times, in dozens of countries during my travels. There's nothing odd or sinister about this. They're simply curious.

And what's wrong with that?

Me: coming from the supermarket, a few plastic bags in hand with the name of the shop in large letters on the bags... Thai: "Where you go?" 🙄

Me, walking alone along the beach in Pattaya. Girl: "Where is friend you?" 😆

Absolutely nothing.

I couldn't care less about their life.

And you have previously poured scorn upon just about every aspect of their society, culture, cuisine and all their "service industries".

I can't help wondering why you live here!

It can't be for financial reasons, in various of your previous incarnations you have told us that you are extremely wealthy!

Old MO for determining where to fit you, an alien, into the social hierarchy, or where to ‘sort of’ place you on the social ladder. Thailand is a status society based on wealth & status .. money, age, job, married/not married, etc. As a foreigner, an outsider,  they do not have to be polite, or show deference, as with a Thai. They can be very direct.

Be thankful. Today it is done much less often. If you lived here 40 years ago, you would get it all the time.

Give it a rest Bob.  Every thread you start is anti-Thai.  I really can't understand why you're allowed to get away with breaking one of the forum rules time and time again.  (Well, actually I have a very good idea of why you get away with it, but I can't say this - other forum members will understand...)

Yes don't state any names

Why do you have such a problem with it?

Do you think Thai men, in general, are jealous of us foreigners banging their women? especially if she is of thai-chinese descent?

Tuco.

Are they the ones with the deathly white skin and legs so skinny they look like chop sticks?

It's the same old spiel

In a relationship, my girlfriend often asks if I've eaten rice (had a meal) yet.

I reckon it's cute, their obsession with food.

I think some Thais are just curious or trying to make polite conversation with limited language skills. I am not offended by questions like this.

FYI: That phrase actually comes from being POOR and is rooted in not having enough to eat.
