Paris football riots? What's the deal?

Featured Replies

More than 500 people were arrested by police during the Champions League final celebrations in France, and two people were reported dead and 192 injured, the interior ministry said as further festivities were planned on Sunday.

The interior ministry on Sunday reported hundreds of fires, including more than 200 vehicles burned. Some 22 members of the security forces and seven firefighters were harmed.

I don't generally follow French politics or news, so I'm curious.  Anyone better tuned in?

These football riots happen everywhere all the time in europe. Selective and repeated news reporting by mainstream media is the issue. Like a guy messes up with cannabis in Thailand, then a few more stories always follow in the same week too etc.

Fatalities and 200 vehicles burned up?  Is that a normal football riot?

I'm wondering if there's some undercurrent that the MSM isn't willing to discuss.

The right wing media is reporting it's the "usual suspects" (African migrants).  But is that true?

No, it's not. But if you take a train to Paris, as I have, it will strike you how dystopian and miserable, downright ugly and repulsive the outskirts of Paris are, the Balieus, where the French confine their North African and middle Eastern migrants. There must be a lot of pent-up anger and frustration living in those awful places. They make the projects look like paradise.

Paris Migrant Riots Framed By Media As Soccer Celebration – 2 Dead, 1 Cop In Coma, Hundreds Arrested

Thousands of migrants and local youths were filmed setting vehicles and garbage cans on fire, harassing drivers, defacing property, blocking traffic and clashing with police.

Paris Police Chief Laurent Nunez told reporters several stores were looted, resulting in at least 559 arrests.

The Parisians better do that , and go park your car far away.

The riots were perfectly understandable.   A French cop addressed a crowd with the plural familiar "you" instead of of the formal version.   The crowd went mental!

In the Belgium case, it was far-right thugs attacking Muslims.

I'm not denying that the Amsterdam riot was anti-Jewish but your initial reply could be read as implying both the Belgian and Dutch riots were anti-Jewish which is not the case.

In a similar vein to Amsterdam, there was no need for the Brugge "supporters" to go to Molenbeek. They also went there just for confrontation.

There's no monopoly when it comes to political violence.

As I said no one group has a monopoly on political violence.
