Sniffling heroin hey? (sniffling mind you, not sniffing). I see you're an expert in drugs and harm reduction.

I don´t think that was very relevant. Let´s make it easier just for you. You put it up your god damn nose. Otherwise, it´s exactly like I wrote.

Thought you injected or smoked heroin.

I never knew anyone that snorted it.

I don't think tourism in TH is finished. All that is needed is international flights and hotels. To the new world middle-class any destination is ok, for example Pattaya as a family beach destination.

It's a pity some country doesn't run following live experiment:

1) Set up a huge landfill as destination.

2) Build ramschackle woodplank hotels around the landfill.

3) Build an airstrip nearby with a few charter flights from the Indian Subcontinent.

4) Count the families who come for a holiday on and around the landfill.

Pattaya:

Huge Landfill (effectively) - check.

Ramshackle hotels - check.

Airstrip nearbye with charter flights from the Indian Subcontinent - check.

We're in business!

Is it any wonder that tourists are now opting for safer, cleaner, cheaper and friendlier destinations?

So, which tourist mecca is picking up the slack? Or is it more like peeps are staying closer to home as the friendliness of the entire world seems to be decreasing? 🤔🤷 Seems to me that MOST tourist destinations are hurting.

I would venture to guess that you've spent most of your time in Pattaya or Phuket.

You do realize that you are "talking" to Bob etc!

Is it any wonder, with all the constant flip flopping on visas, taxes, dual pricing, airport tax, scamming locals, earth-quakes, constant violence on social media & the strong baht - that tourists are now opting for safer, cleaner, cheaper and friendlier destinations?

Thailand lost it's smile decades ago, and if they are still smiling, one can't even tell because of the masks they are still wearing...

Mark.

Really Bob, again.

Surely you have a new dead horse to flog.

You are living in a big illusion. Sure, most people do not cause problem while stoned. Same as most people do not cause problem while drunk on alcohol, sniffing heroin and so on....

However, all substances that alters the brain and mind will affect different people in different way, so it totally possible to cause problem when you are stoned. Next time, please educate yourself a little bit before posting nonsense.

Gawd you're such a bore. At least Bob is mildly amusing, for all his flaws.

The rot started when they legalized weed. Now Thailand attracts the young yobs who just want to get stoned and cause trouble. Hence the number of "influencers" getting busted trying to smuggle weed into the UK. Quality tourists don't want any part of that.

Rubbish! Another poster uneducated in the effects of marijuana. And a strange use of the word "influencer", or is that your buzz word of the month?

Sadly the ones with mental illness, the nasty, disrespectful, tourists are still arriving.

Let them all go to Vietnam!

How great that would be!

He's lost his spark, and I use that term loosely. AseanNow must have cut his monthly stipend after Cheesy Dan sold it to The Thaiger. I'd be miserable too if they cut my Leo ration in half.

I can only assume you've never been stoned. No one causes trouble when they're stoned, at least any kind of serious, violent trouble. Maybe they drive slowly. They might possibly observe the real speed limit. Or maybe they ruin their health by eating too much junk food.  Or, maybe they end up lost, in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I could tell you a few stories, but I'm not sure you'd believe them.

It's called snorting.

Acutally, you can also snort it, smoke it, or even plug it (booty bumping). Even with these gentler methods, overdoses are possible.

The media like to project the bogeyman image of the syringe-wielding heroin user.

Cheap mass tourism is wrecking it.

The decision to allow Indians (and other nationalities with extreme low GDP per person) without any forms of checks and balances with a a visa has to be the most wreckless decision made in Thailand's history.

It's turned away quality tourism.

We were late teens, and injected, but knew a few in the 20s to 30s, that were amazingly stupid also.

That tops my list of 'Dumbest' things ever done, and took only once to realize it.  How anyone could do it a 2nd time really speaks to their lack of rational thinking and intelligence.

The big failure of pushing things like 'Reefer Madness' in HS as some sort of documentary.   Silly lies like that, kind of turns kids off of believing any creditable warnings of harder drugs.

Next would be drunk driving, and thankfully, never hurt anyone, or self, while doing.  Realized early on how stupid that was, thankfully.    Hard to believe people still do it today, as much as it is demonized in the news.  Early 70s, not so much, unfortunately.

Loss a few friends to drunk driving, that barely made 20 yrs old, so an easy wake up call.  Alcohol, the entry drug of choice, for most people, really does ruin so many lives.

On topic ... the demographic of younger and some middle aged tourist will, has, definitely changed.   Though they aren't the problem tourist.  Pot heads are a calm lot.   Drunks are the Hellraiser.

Decriminalization is definitely a motivational factor for visiting, as one of the main reasons I went to Amsterdam, aside from the museums.   Damn you Van Halen :cheesy:

This time it's different.

When was the last time you ventured out on to the streets in a tourist ghetto?

Just look at the numbers for this quarter....

The attitude of the locals stinks, the way they try and fleece the foreigner is atrocious and I for one hope they never return.

Mark.

You better go home quickly , and never venture out in to the World again ,

I have lived a long time here, and in that time there were Terrorist attacks in

Bangkok and around the Country, tsunami's ,earthquake's ,Covid ,but

Thailand tourist industry always pulled through ,which is why I call it,

Teflon Thailand ....

In San Fran I just spent $35 USD on a plate of spaghetti.   Tip is 20% so $42.

China is everything here.  Look at the tourist numbers.   We need to read Chinese and figure it out.  China is the head, the body, the tail, and the white expat falang is simply the gun on the bottom on a worn-out sole from someone speaking Chinese.

The Chinese control tourism.  We just complain.
