Spicy foods won't trigger diverticulitis but if having a flare-up should be avoided.

High Fibre foods are your friend. Make sure you are getting plenty.

I've had diverticulitis attacks in the past, and currently (nasty business indeed).  I take a course [10 days] of AMK 1,000mg of Amoxicillin antibiotic.  Now 3 days in and symptoms pretty well gone.  AMK is available direct from chemists, but you certainly should get a doctor's confirmation that you actually have diverticulitis first

Agree spicy foods are not the cause.   Check out Prof Google  ie.  https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/diverticulitis/symptoms-causes/syc-20371758

Good to know. In general my digestive tract is way better in Thailand than Canada. Food so much healthier and fresher.

Rocket - Have you looked into using fermented dairy with L. Reuteri & L. Gasseri strains. Easy to make!

Google 'Sibo Yogurt', or 'Dr. William Davis'.

I batch cook vegetable stew, carrot, potato, broccoli, lot of garlic, coconut milk, curry (masaman) and a lot of turmeric.

Add protein as required.

I have been diagnosed with mild diverticulitis.

This helps, the turmeric is important.

"Westerners" aren't evolved to eat rice 3 times a day....

Get a squat toilet. Asians that use them don't regularly get diverticulitis. It's generally a western disease.

  • 2 weeks later...

I get a flare up once in a while for me its the mangos, I love mangos, but they dont like me, its normally fractious from certain fruits for me or in bakery items, use to be way worse for me back home.

Spicy food wont give you Diverticulitis but it might upset more if you have it, my go to during an attack is simple basic food like rice/risotto plain, bread/simple pizza and soft drinks.
