Indian street scammers in Sukhumvit
Has anyone been hit up by one of these Indian scumbag street scammers in Sukhumvit? These guys are young, they're not old guys selling fake watches, and they come up to you and start trying to talk to you about your hair. I immediately them to "Fu*k Off". So I don't get far enough with them to figure out what the scam is, but apparently this is it according to ChatGPT: Yeah I know exactly the one you’re talking about. It’s a common street scam in places like Bangkok, especially around tourist-heavy areas like Sukhumvit or around Nana and Asok. Usually, a well-dressed Indian guy approaches you out of nowhere, friendly, smiling, and starts complimenting or commenting on your hair. Sometimes they’ll say something like “Brother you’ve got good hair but you could make it even better” or “I can see you’ve got a little thinning I’ve got something that can help.” The whole thing is just a hook to get you to stop and engage with them. Once you’ve stopped, the scam usually goes one of two ways: 1 - Fake Herbal Products Scam — They’ll offer some kind of herbal hair oil, magic treatment, or ayurvedic product, claiming it cures baldness or promotes amazing hair growth. If you agree, they’ll try to sell you a small bottle for a crazy inflated price, sometimes hundreds of dollars. The product itself is usually worthless or just basic oil you could buy anywhere for a couple of bucks. 2 - Hidden Price Scam — Sometimes they’ll offer to give you a quick demonstration or a massage right there on the street or convince you to go to a nearby shop. At first they might say it’s free or cheap but by the time they’re done, they’ll suddenly reveal a massive hidden price and start demanding payment. They usually rely on tourists being too polite or embarrassed to say no or just walk away. It’s basically the same crowd involved in other scams like the “suit shop” scam or fake gem scams. Same playbook — friendly chat, build rapport, then lead you into an overpriced sale. -

Community Man Survives After Drinking Toilet Cleaner in Apparent Suicide Attempt in Pattaya
Picture courtesy of TMN Emergency services were called to assist a man in the early hours of the morning after he ingested toilet cleaner in a suspected suicide attempt near a petrol station, on Sukhumvit Road at the junction leading to Motorway 7, in Pattaya, Chonburi province. The incident occurred at approximately 03:30 and was reported to the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Centre. Responders arrived at the scene to find the man in distress and vomiting. He was given immediate first aid before being transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The man was later identified as Mr. Warawut Saenpha, 30. According to medical personnel, he had consumed a quantity of “Duck Pro” brand toilet cleaner and was experiencing nausea and vomiting as a result. Mr. Somchai Thapthim, 40, a friend of the victim, told rescuers that Mr. Warawut had come to see him and spoke in a manner that resembled a farewell. Shortly after, he began vomiting, prompting Mr. Somchai to question him further. It was then revealed that Mr. Warawut was distraught after his girlfriend had left him and had attempted to take his own life. Mr. Warawut then rushed outside, but collapsed at the side of the road. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any legal or mental health follow-up will be conducted, but the incident highlights ongoing concerns about mental health awareness. Oi Mate, That Ain’t Your Missus — That’s Proper Rented Property, Innit.
Back in the day, there was a ladyboy bar near the Mermaids Dive Center on Soi Whitehouse in Jomtien. One day as us Instructor trainees were waiting for the baht bus to arrive to load with equipment, this one particularly ugly ladyboy walked past us with a very drunken customer in tow. Now, we labeled this lb "Shrek" as the ugly was strong with that one - didn't even try to hide the wadded up toilet paper he/she was using to pad the halter top. S/He leaned back, looked us all straight in the eye, and gave us a huge "wink" knowing she had caught a live one. We had a great laugh over that, Shrek was ugly but a good sport. As you said, "You can’t make this sh*te up." -
