Jealousy and Violence: South Korean Man Arrested in Dramatic Pattaya Incident

In a shocking turn of events in Pattaya, a South Korean man was arrested after holding his Thai girlfriend captive for nearly 24 hours, threatening her with a gun due to suspected infidelity.

The intense situation unfolded on June 16 when Police Colonel Anek Sathongyu received reports of a foreign man using a firearm to detain a woman in a nail salon on Pattaya Klang Road.

Police quickly surrounded the salon. However, the suspect smashed a window and leapt from a third-floor balcony, evading capture with the gun in hand.

Officers managed to rescue the victim, 28-year-old Ann, a nail salon owner, who was left bruised and traumatised. She reported that her ex-boyfriend, driven by jealousy over a supposed affair with a Chinese man, had confiscated her phone and locked her in the room since the previous night.

During his rage, he procured a gun, although the supplier remains unidentified, and used it to threaten and assault her. Ann tried to seek help at 3pm but failed. Her ex then forced her to send a message to her Chinese friend, whom he misguidedly believed was her lover.

Ingenuously, Ann sent a hidden plea for help, prompting her friend to contact the police. As authorities arrived, the suspect fled but was later apprehended 500 metres from the scene around 11pm.

The man, identified as 27-year-old Dong Wook Kim, was caught with a 9mm pistol bought for 77,000 baht from a Thai woman. He admitted to his actions, citing jealousy as his motive.

Despite her ordeal, Ann initially hesitated to press charges for assault or illegal detention. Nevertheless, Kim faces prosecution under the Firearms Act, with police continuing their investigation into the incident.

Obviously with not enough men.  'the suspect smashed a window and leapt from a third-floor balcony, evading capture with the gun in hand.'

If ol' Dong had simply spent that 77,000 baht on her, I think he still would have had a girlfriend

That reminds me of a few years ago in the Netherlands, due to a shortage of money, the Dutch government was asked to call soldiers in training instead of bullets, loud pang, pang.
True story.

What is that😱😱😱?

Can help wondering how many out there that is so well connected they during a hostage situation can pick up the phone and purchase a firearm? Guess lill' Dong has a lot of explaining to do before it's of to the nice BnB

I wonder if anyone has translated into Korean the old adage

"You don't lose your girlfriend in Pattaya, you just lose your turn"?

I need to see her.  She must have "powerful p**sy" that would cause him to go bat <deleted> crazy.

Winner!!!!  That is absolutely true...he could have locked her down for another 3 months.

When Koreans go wrong, they go really wrong.

I remember when a Korean salaryman staying at Sukhumit Suites, soi 13, chopped up his wife and kid and dumped the bodies in suitcases into Klong Saen Saep.

In fact, i remember a few stories like this.

Not sure whats up with Korean men, but yea, they get hostile over women.

I did a couple nights in Seoul about 10 years ago, went to a couple clubs. As soon as I started chatting up the local ladies, I got serious stink eye from the guys there, at one club a couple toughs came over and told me I didn't belong there and needed to leave.

O.K. kimchee breath, I'm outta here.

What? You mean Thai girls cheat on guys that pay them for sex? I don't believe it. Say it isn't true. That might explain why my mate caught the crabs from his lady. She is going to marry him. The wedding is two weeks off and he came up with the critters!

So 77K .... that's how much a gun costs?

That's really low self esteem when guys go crazy like that over a woman. Go see a shrink.

Toilet seat to blame, for sure!

I hope your pal has changed his mind now!

Would you have considered him more sane if he jumped off a tall building?

Not the smartest of Thai ladies.  Most have nowhere "down there" for the crabs to hide, if you know what I mean.
