SpaceX Starship 36 Explodes During Flight 10 Testing at Starbase

Featured Replies

Set the YouTube playback speed at 0.25 for some absolutely amazing vision of the explosion. Please no stupid anti-Musk trolling comments (adult time guys) and just appreciate the absolute awesomeness of this. It's like a mini-nuke going off.

Wow.

That was a big bang.

Hope no one was hurt.

Seems like "we" will never get back to the moon let alone Mars.

Often used by moon landing deniers. As for the failure it's just another learning curve albeit a very, very expensive one. No denying it was spectacular though.

Well it's very odd to me that they could do it 60 years ago with computers as powerful as a  modern day 50 baht pocket calculator

but  somehow the technology and know how  was "lost"

very very strange... retrograde.

According to the company statement, nobody was injured.  I guess everyone was well away as these tests seem to be very risky.

NASA budget isn't for war. Back then it was 5% of the entire US budget. Had to beat the Russkies. NASA budget now is 1% of the entire budget.

I think that's a bit of a blurry line  as you  said yourself  to beat the Russkies.

They (supposedly) had perfected the methods and tech  to get to the moon by the early 1970's and yes the development  costs were huge  but now they know how  surely it becomes cheaper and cheaper ? for example computers that cost millions and took up whole buildings now fit in a wrist watch costing 100 dollars...it should be cheap(ish) and routine  to send people to the moon but for some reason,,,its not.

Just like the Soviet N1 rocket this thing will never fly. But the Soviets were smart enough to give up after the first [or second] launch failure.

Dictators...

Because although the stages, docking etc were problematic, it’s basic stuff using Newtonian physics. The elephant in the room is cost. It was a RIDICULOUS amount of money, and was done multiple times so how to keep selling it to the taxpayer?

Musk’s rocket exploded, so naturally the moon landing deniers pile in. 😴

I find it perplexing that people still deny it after all this time, esp adults. It is silly flat earth stuff. So tiresome. The Russians were tracking the F thing and would’ve been the first to cry foul.

The video of Buzz supposedly denying they went is misinterpreted and a small part of the interview. He was remarking on why we haven’t been back since. He’s the first to stomp over deniers. Remember the time he punched that guy?

Anywaaay… It was an impressive explosion. Slow mo at the 1m mark.
