Two Thai transwomen seek justice after being barred from a teacher licensing exam for dressing as their gender identity rather than their biological sex.

Yesterday, Punyaphat Dechbanrung shared her experience on Facebook, expressing her disappointment over unequal treatment. She posted a photo in her female university uniform and described being removed from the exam after 30 minutes. The exam committee cited her title, "Mister," as the reason she shouldn't wear a skirt.

The exam's dress code required candidates to dress "politely" or in their university uniform, with no mention of biological sex. Punyaphat emphasised this oversight as both a waste of time and a missed opportunity.

Following her post, another transwoman, Panusara Ngaokot, reported a similar encounter. Panusara, who completed her university studies as a woman, was also told to leave the exam. Despite the option to reapply, she criticised the use of gender identity to judge someone's capability as a teacher.

Panusara highlighted her removal after 20 minutes of the test, questioning why diversity is not embraced among educators if it is to be taught to children.

The Teachers’ Council of Thailand has not yet responded publicly or proposed a resolution. The situation underscores ongoing challenges for the LGBTQIA+ community in Thai society, raising questions about inclusivity and acceptance.

If she has an apple, she has a banana!

Either you're on lots of hormomes and had your willy cut off (allowing for dress as a female) or not.

If not, then dress as the fella you were born as for things like this.

Not at all convinced it should be 'taught' to kids.

Very susceptible to peer pressure at a young age and listening to what is 'trendy' and all the rage (ie woke).

Let them make their own mind up in their own time and answer any questions they may have as you go along.

I agree... it is one thing to want to express or expose your mental instabilities of gender uncertainty to adults. But quite another to allow it to happen to impressionable school children.

I would have a fit if my 5 year old son had a Trans teaching them dressing as a woman and influencing my child's thinking he can be a girl if he just dresses like one. Kids, especially the very young school children are most susceptible to being influenced. this way. And there is no guarantee a trans would not be trying to push their agenda onto a small child since they are usually very dramatic in everything concerning forcing you to believe they are really female.

And here's the actual problem. No, it should NOT be taught at all, and definitely NOT to CHILDREN!

A bit like Trannies turning up at the army recruitment hall dressed as females, and a doctors note...

expecting to get a free pass...

They want equality, take a lucky dip card like all the rest mister.

Actually, this person is demanding that they should receive special treatment.

All people born with penises should dress as a man, so all people born with penises were treated equally!

There is nothing wrong with kids any age being taught by a katoey.

At a young age, it’s a completely non-sexual agenda.

So they see a ladyboy in the village but can’t be taught by one? RIDICULOUS!

I would not like my kids having a female teacher with a deep voice and a dick. 😠

I hadn't realized that teacher licenses are divided by gender. I assumed you take an exam and if you pass you are a teacher.

It's another issue if a school doesn't want to hire a teacher based on clothing.

Good. Children should not be exposed to mental illness at a young age. Transgenders should be tolerated and offered the mental help they need, sure, but not encouraged. Inclusion and diversity are not goals to strive for - they are problems society is forced to cope with.

Good point. If they look like a man in women's clothing no school will want to hire them anyway. It's just victim complex - they know it's impossible, but today they complain about being denied from the test, but if they passed it then they'd be complaining no one is hiring them.

Well the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom has ruled on this matter. And they have stated; very clearly that on ASEANNOW  transsexuals WILL be referred to as LADYBOYS, as it is part of the cultural tradition of Thailand.

Well don't go to the UK then! Over 90

Infants have been banned from school for transphobia.

Finally some sanity during "Pride Month".

Being taught by someone is very different then being taught to ne something.  It makes no difference to math students if their teacher is male, female or transgender.

Transgenderism is a mental illness

And my comment was regarding diversity being taught to children at a young age if you read the post.

No comment made whatsoever regarding the gender of a teacher. Have no problem with that at all if they are up to the task.

The issue was not that this person was transgender, it was about wearing female clothing. Thai schools have a lot of transgender teachers, but they are required to wear clothes that match their ID card.

Thailand needs to employ DEI.
