Axe Attack in Chon Buri: Road Dispute Escalates Violently

In a startling incident in Chon Buri, Thailand, a road dispute turned violent when a man attacked another's car with an axe. The victim, Withit, 31, reported that his wife and their five-year-old son were in the vehicle during the attack.

The confrontation unfolded on June 17 at the Nong Chark Intersection on Route 344. Withit had paused at a traffic light with his family en route to his son's school. When the light turned green, his brief delay reportedly angered the driver of a black sedan behind him.

The impatient driver, wielding both a knife and an axe, aggressively manoeuvred around Withit, cutting him off before pulling over near the school. Withit continued driving without engaging but was soon cornered when he turned into an alley to park.

As Withit prepared to drop off his son, the suspect blocked his car, emerged with the weapons, and struck the right side of Withit’s vehicle near the child’s seat. Fearing for their safety, Withit quickly fled and later filed a police report at Ban Bueng Police Station.

Authorities traced the sedan to a woman who denied any knowledge of someone borrowing her car. She is due for questioning on June 24, as police continue their investigation.

The incident has sparked a heated discussion online. While some criticise Withit's driving, others contend that violence and weapons have no place in resolving road disputes. This episode serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that can escalate from a momentary lapse on the road.

This guy has probably been waiting for months for an excuse to use that axe on someone.

That you're angry... fine. That you honk once in a while... fine. That there are complete idiots on the road who can really get under your skin... absolutely. But to react so aggressively over these kinds of minor incidents — then you're definitely missing a few brain cells. Getting worked up over other people’s "mistakes" just isn’t worth the trouble.

Yes.

I wonder how many Thais, keep a weapon in the car. Gun. Knife, Bat, Machete, or Tire iron under

the drivers seat.

The correct answer would be: car expropriated, driver's license ban for life and 2 years of aggravated prison.

A high percentage.

Why block out his face here? He's obviously guilty and the country needs to know who he is. A knife and axe this time. Like others have mentioned, the usual carry-on items for drivers here. If he did this in the US he would get run over and seeing it's self defense, no likely charges for the driver, depending on how intent was proven.

Agree...

And what idiot carries an axe in the car in the first place?   Off hours lumberjack?

Letsee:

One axe is ~1 kg.

One car is ~1000 kg.

Defend the family.

You do that, he will definitely bring that axe down onto your boot or worse the rear windscreen. Not a good exchange of event. Just speed off to avoid that imbecile.

A Thai boy in a man's body, pathetic behavior.

The women is a liar and the man is a known problem (this is not his first time acting a violent fool)... Yes, I don't know them, and my comment  is pure conjecture, but I'm confident I'm not wrong.

You seem to think someone colliding with a car has the time to swing an axe.

Besides, it'll buff out!

If I stabbed everyone who cut me off in Thailand it would be an extinction level event of the population.

Maybe an annoyed American handyman.

That asshol*I must be the amphetamines addict.

It often causes paranoia and violent behavior.

Glad if that thing was hit and squashed by the incoming overloaded truck.

A lot of nutters on the road these days, another reason to be careful and calm, and maintain your composure. Getting angry and acting out just does not pay in this day and age, it could result in all kinds of problems for you and your family. And this is not limited to Thailand though many are going to use this as an excuse for Thai bashing. I've seen this in America, it may not be as bad but it happens a lot, as people are very stressed out and unhappy back there these days.

Family in the car, straight over the bonnet or boot standard . No way would I take any chances no matter what country .

Pah. If it were raining, this could be mistaken for what occurs all the time in the UK. Wouldn't even generate a headline, let alone the news!

They even cover up sexual crimes to protect the 'community!'

If you are considering coming to England, particularly any city, don't bother. The country has been ruined!

And today’s prize for the most off topic post goes to you with the added bonus of a cigar for shoehorning implicit racism in England into the subject of road rage in Thailand.
