A 26-year-old Thai student and aspiring model was attacked and robbed in New York, raising concerns about the response from Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) staff. Finding no immediate help, she had to flag down a car to reach the police.

Remember this recent high profile case where there was this crazy black guy on the subway threatening people so this Marine vet put him in a chock hold which eventually killed him? Turns out that guy had 44 previous arrests.  So yes.  Dem run city...

Which can be said about most large cities worldwide, including Bangkok, Los Angeles, Detroit, Rio De Janeiro, Memphis, Cape Town, Tijuana and many more. I lived near NYC for 30 years, went there a lot, and worked there, and spent a lot of time during the nights, and never saw any crime although of course it happened, like it does here a street away from where many live but never see. The event you refer to had circumstances that necessitated an investigation which led to sufficient evidence to obtain a grand jury indictment. If there had not been a reasonable basis to prosecute for negligent homicide because of the manner in which the deceased was choked to death, the grand jury would not have indicted. The end result was that a criminal trial found that there was reasonable doubt and acquitted the accused of negligent homicide.

Have you ever looked at crime stats superimposed on Red/Blue political maps?  You should.  It 'splains a lot.

 

For example, why Salt Lake City in "Red state" Utah has one of the highest crime rates.  It's because SLC votes Blue while Utah as a whole votes Red.
