Good morning everyone: I would like to start by saying that I have always read the forum and it is a source of great experience for many of us. Having written this, before my question I already know the negative comments that will arrive, there will be bad words from some of you, but I accept them because I put myself in this situation and I alone and I would like to apologize to all of you for what I have done. Tomorrow night I have my return flight: I have been in overstay for 11 years. I am interested in knowing what awaits me at immigration: I pay the 20,000 thb, I am banned for 10 years and I am free to go or there could be something else? I'm French, my passport is still valid and I'm leaving for Bangkok tonight where I'll be staying with a friend who is just a few minutes from the airport. Thanks again and I am truly sorry

As you've overstayed for 11 years, your entry stamp most likely isn't in your current passport. You haven't mentioned it, just that your passport is valid, so make sure to double-check to take along the passport with your entry stamp as well, as they'd need to transfer it before they can place the overstay and exit stamps into your current passport.

Check in as early as possible, processing your overstay will take some extra time.

Keep a low profile and be careful when going from your friend's 'safehouse' to the airport. Get caught, you go monkey house.

Good luck, you shouldn't have any problem other than the additional time required at the airport to pay the fine etc.

Safe travels. I can assure you it's a lot better than the option, to be processed at IDC in Bangkok. Been there, done that.

Welcome back in 10 years. Thailand might be a little different then, but my guess is that you'll miss it, so you'll come back. Until then, there are many good choices in SE Asia. Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia.

Best of luck.

Leave some extra time for photo ops.  I suspect his photo may end up on a Wall of Fame somewhere that the airport, for 11 successful years.  They may want to call in some bigwigs to be in the snaps.  That could take time.

Yes, I'm kidding.  I think...

Anyway, best of luck to the OP.

It must be a sense of relief not having to evade authorities in Thailand anymore.

11 years you must’ve lived a secluded existence.

I been randomly asked for my passport

while traveling on the road and at clubs!

Good luck.I only had overstay for one day in the past.Didnt get any fine but get a stamp in my passport about that.I told the officer right away i had 1 day overstay and they took me to a table near the passport control.

The officer who i sat down with was wery nice.Asked me alot of things after he cleared my overstay.

Asked where i learned thai.. about my exwife and our kids and just normal things.

Both my kids had 4 year overstay but because their age under 15 that time it wasn't any problem at all.

My kids mother is a thai.

I never been stopped for checking my passport in Thailand. But when my exgf had booked a room in her name in soi 93 they get suspicious. After 30 minutes the manager knocked the door with a officer from IMM.

He asked for my passport and i gave it to him. After 15 minutes he came back and gave me my passport back and said everything is ok.

Must be a hell of a life and a paranoid life if you ask me. Most people are afraid of one day overstay, so

I got 3 days at most out convenient reasons,  but it was all okay and nobody asked why. Paid two days overstay when exiting, that’s all

How did you manage to evade the authorities for 11 years?

Lie low and avoid hotels?
