Why so many people complain about the country yet make no effort to leave.

They probably don't want to leave.

A fake topic would be when someone posts a topic, tries (not very hard) to make it sound like they want to start a discussion, but really they just want to put others down.

Harrisfan and (suspiciously) MalcolmB are very keen on this type of topic.  It goes like this:

The comparison is a bit off. MalcolmB is a degenerate exploiting people, harrisfan is just a regular guy

They're two sides of the "same coin".  😉

Well my suggestion is start a topic that isn't BS. Life's full of surprises and disappointments no matter where you are. Having said this I did see a young elephant eat a mandarin be gently treading on it, taking out the flesh of the fruit to eat and discard the peel. Not really the  surprise you're fishing for but simply amazing. This didn't happen in a Tourist area. It wasn't a trick. Everyone (I was the only foreigner there) was amazed.

I agree.   I've improved a bit by living here,  but nowhere near the level of most Thais.

Then maybe they should stop moaning all of the time.

Why?

If they did stop moaning they may actually get a life.

They probably have a life.  Moaning about things is fairly normal.

You're moaning now.

How do you know they're doing it constantly?  Maybe they just complain online.

To be fair, it did make them pretty much rulers of the world at one point.

When first arriving in Thailand in the early 1960s I was shocked to see Buddhists eating meat. Nothing much here surprises me any more.

I saw a Buddhist monk ordering at a hot dog stand.

"Make me one with everything"

He said!

Most of your posts are about me. You are supposed to discuss the topic not the OP. Please follow forum rules.

As far as I know, "OP" is Original Post, therefore it IS discussing the topic and referencing its perpetrator, that calls itself Harris to disguise being a Trumper!

And Americans constantly bleating about Trump. Score 1-1.

Although I know Americans don't understand the concept of a draw.

I support trump.

Can you please post some of my "constant bleating" posts.... Iam sure they are few and far between.

Feel free to post any of my constant moaning posts they are also few and far between.  Another draw?

One of my first surprises was the good road system.  That was brought home to me with my first visit to Cambodia with my spouse, I think in 2012.  We traveled on very good roads to the border and then got a taxi to take us to Siem Reap.  I think we were on national highway 1, which was paved.  However, as we crossed intersections, almost all the side roads were dirt.

Once we got to Siem Reap, some of the main streets were paved but many of the side streets we traveled on were very bumpy gravel with huge potholes.  A later visit to Siem Reap in 2017 showed progress with better roads.  But, it was interesting that two countries next door to each other had such a huge difference in infrastructure.  We also noticed that very soon after we left Siem Reap the rural areas soon lost electricity and water--at least they did in 2017.

Go post on a Trump topic then.

Trump lives in your head 7/24/365 rent free.

He is your be all and end all.

He is the Orange hole around which your universe turns.

OK. Fine.

But don't bother the rest of us with your obsession.

If they didn't do similar off line they wouldn't do it online

Nope.  Lots of research to support the notion that people are different online to offline.  Not to mention the blindingly obvious common sense angle.
