So Golf's "body count" is at least 8 that we are aware of.

It seems as though Golf has had more pricks than a second hand dart board.

My abstaining from sex is not solely by my own choice.

That's because it's not natural to try to go through life abstaining completely from sex. Time for the fake facade to come down once and for all and stop expecting human beings to be saints.

She was even more full before, as she claims she had children with the monks. If that's true of course. She's a bit of a liar, clearly.

Its all a crock of baloney...just like all the rest..humans pretending to be pious.....pretending they know how the universe came to be...when in truth, no one knows diddly squat ..and we are ALL imperfect animals....what a waste of time and space....

Som nam nah!!

Buddhists don't talk about "how the universe came to be". In fact the Buddha actively discouraged metaphysical speculation. It's more a philosophy of personal development.

Which, clearly, is greatly compromised by the allure of the vagina.

They all seem to think that making merit will bring them back as kings and not slugs so....they seem to think they have figured something out....Buddha said this...Buddha said that...so did Jesus....2000 + years ago. Its a load of hearsay from dudes that lived in a time very distant from our own..and thats putting it mildly

That's true of course, and unfortunately much that was written down, like all texts, is subject to error and was later embellished. Thus we find demons and the like enter Buddhism from the local folklore. These things were added later, much like Easter was added ino the Christian cannon, or Christmas, when they were originally pagan beliefs.

The same happened with Buddhism, local practices and beliefs entered Buddhist scripture.

Dont get me wrong , I dont want to live in a world devoid of all spirituality and religion...I think that would be hell....I just dont believe any of it. Better the devil you know with religion than the devil you dont.

I see it much the same way, to concern yourself with metaphysical matters is not very profitable, however, many of the wisdoms of all religious that pertain to character and good living, are well worth studying.

Thai Buddhism not Theravada Buddhism, but a mix of several religions.... In the real Buddhism monks throw away their money when they go into the monastery, here in Thailand they do the same, but with other hands they will receive a lot of money from the lay people for praying at many occasions. Result is that most monks have good filled bankaccounts. I have seen several monks in Thailand smoking, although for monks it s not done, we have read many times that traffic offenders or other culprits entered the monkhood for penance for the wrong doings.. So instead of going to jail, they are being treated with all respect, although they sometimes seriously injured or killed someone... There are  a lot of monks now it seems that don't live without sex too... All give the monkhood and Buddhism in Thailand a bad name and I hear from people that they stopped giving alms to monks and temples, because so many problems nowadays.. I think it is time for the board of Buddhism in Thailand to stop this by making being a monk an exclusive profession.. which means that in fact only kids can grow to monks in a temple and all other should have flawless state of living.

Why should monks be celibate?

I always understood the Catholic church imposed celibacy as a way to avoid any additional costs of priests having wives, but monks?

Well that hasn't worked out too well has it ?    They must have paid billions in compensation to the kids they fiddle with

Thai Buddhism is facing a storm of controversy as a scandal involving senior monks erupts. A woman, known only as Golf, revealed affairs with eight monks, including the abbot of the celebrated Wat Phra Phutthachai. This revelation has led to the defrocking of senior monks, shaking public faith in the revered institution.

Another ten and she would have got in a complete round.

A dam good defrocking is well overdue it's the only thing on my to do list these days 🤔

It appears that in so called religious businesses throughout the world the embezzlement, organised buggery, human trafficking, abuse of innocent children knows no abounds.

In other words they are fronts for organised crime and should be completely banned.

The monks are further being liberated, cell phones, smoking, drinking, driving vehicles and now this. What’s next? The revelation of kratoy monks, women monks or dope smoking party monks?

I blame the wokeness of permitting them to wear frocks.

Just ask the Catholics, they know all about that.

Golf acquired the nickname “Golf” as clients claimed her oral skills  were so talented she could suck a golf ball through a garden hose.  Golf is a retrenched 3 holer from Soi 6 Pattaya who turned to religion and found it more profitable.
Her mantra every morning is, Bonk a Monk, Bonk a Monk

Nothing new about this. Much of  Thai so-called Buddhism is more akin to money-making idolatry. Very sad for those few Thai monks who sincerely try to follow the tenets of Siddartha Gautama.

One has to remember that many of these monks may not be "life-long" monks but are only in the temples for 6-12 weeks "to earn merit".

I've gone to a number of "ordination" ceremonies where people did the whole "becoming a monk" routine with the head shaving and parade to the temple and lots of donations and gifts. It's quite the party (and can be fairly expensive as well).

And then three months (the normal length of time one is expected to stay in the temple) later, they take off their robes and go back to doing (whatever) they did in their normal lives.

(It used to be tradition that all male members of a family did a 3 month stint as a monk at some point in their lives, either when they are young or after they have retired normally.)

And some "monks" seem to treat the position as a job, not a "higher calling" and see it as an easy way to get free food, lodging and spending money. Way easier than digging ditches or collecting garbage all day. (Better food and accommodations and "gifts" as well for some of them.)

It's probably more surprising that there aren't more problems being reported on a regular basis.

When will humans learn that we’re just animals with natural tendencies. Religion tries to make us feel special and appoints some as very special like monks, priests etc. only to be disappointed when the very special give in to what comes naturally. Oh well give it a few hundred years and the penny will drop.

It happens more often that publicized. Monks disrobe and disappear.

This is why Buddha resisted and opposed the ordination of women. However, he was nagged, implored and harrased by....a woman, his foster mother Mahapajapati Gotami to allow women to be ordained, and eventually the Buddha relented and allowed it. The Buddha's Beta male attendant, Ananda also concurred with the ordination of women and advised Buddha to change his stance.

The Buddha relented and allowed the ordination, however, only after imposing 8 additional conditions on women who become ordained, the  Eight Garudhammas. These stipulated that the Budhist nuns, even the senior ones, had to accept their inferiority to male monks. In addition he required the women be segregated from the men.

One of the Eight Garudhammas also sought to protect Buddhist monks from the abuse of female nuns. He also forbade nuns to admonish male monks.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eight_Garudhammas

The Buddha was wise indeed. However, he should have kept steadfast and refused women to come anywhere near the male monks, the fact that he relented after being confronted by his aunt and foster mother, who led a delegation of women to request of the Buddha that he allow ordination of women, shows, that the Buddha was too soft. He understood the dangers women would represent for the order, he stipulated they be segregated, and accept an inferior status, but sadly he could not protect monks from the evil designs of women.

The lesson is not to be swayed by women, not to be too soft on women. They will always destroy all that is noble and worthy with their evil nature. The Buddha understood this. His attempt at segregating them failed. Even in their isolation Thai Buddhist nuns today work as an evil force in society promoting feminism, which ultimately destroys all societies. This will happen in Thailand too, and in fact is already happening, thanks to the evil seed of feminism planted by Thai Buddhist nuns. The irony is that they use the prestige of Buddhism to further the feminist cause, when the Buddha himself would have been strongly opposed to feminism. The irony.

"The lesson is not to be swayed by women, not to be too soft on women. They will always destroy all that is noble and worthy with their evil nature. "

Cuckoo, cuckoo.

To save unwanted children from being born to people who cannot look after them would be a good reason.

No man in any religion should be expected to live a life on celibacy. It is not normal for any man to never have sexual relations with women. If it was then the whole world would be a waist land.
