What was meant to be a peaceful holiday turned into a nightmare for a 61-year-old British tourist in Pattaya after he was lured into a trap and robbed of more than 12,500 baht in cash.

Mr Chris John Glennon, who is mute and reliant on a motorised wheelchair, fell victim to a group of three suspects,  believed to be  two women and one transgender, who allegedly deceived him into returning to his hotel room with them, before fleeing with his money.

The incident occurred around midnight on 15 July in room 140 of a hotel located in Central Pattaya. Left traumatised and alone in the dark, Mr Glennon was unable to call for help. Instead, he had to communicate his distress by typing messages on his mobile phone to alert the police.

According to police reports, the thieves made off with approximately 6,000 baht in Thai currency and £150 in cash, totalling about 12,500 baht. Mr Glennon, who had placed his trust in the group, was devastated by the betrayal and the emotional toll of the encounter.

Police at Pattaya City Police Station are urgently hunting the three suspects and have appealed to the public for assistance. Anyone with information about the incident or the identities of those involved are urged to contact authorities immediately.

Unlike with Chinese these criminals will never be found.

555 such a lovely, Buddhist country

And ministries wonder what might improve tourism lol. Well, not news like this.

“who allegedly deceived him into returning to his hotel room with them,”

I doubt there was much deception involved in terms of returning to his hotel room. Pretty sure he was happy about having 3 prostitutes for the night.

i feel sorry for him, but the risks involved in what he did are pretty high. Even in a family friendly resort like Pattaya.

I thought most hotels ask for a ID of anyone not booked to stay in hotels and they scan a copy of it or take a photo.

Don't think he was innocent, look at the tattoos,he's been around.

Serves him right for going anywhere near the cess pit , if he’d wanted a holiday in Thailand he could have gone to somewhere like PKK or Kanchanaburi etc but he was looking for dirty street ho’s , ya pays ya money ya gets your choice

2 Sides to every Tale- Heard a Story of an Aussie with a Black Eye, his land lord asked him what happened? "Arr some motor bike taxi guys beat me" he said  "No come on what really happened well"???.... replied the landlord "I had a box to tick on my bucket list he replied down in soi 6/1 when I could not finish I got another service attendant, but still could not finish and refused to pay"!!!

Is Pattaya the crime center of Thailand, does it attract primarily guys that have no survival skills, or is there just a lot of news that's emanating out of  Pattaya these days?

Seems like a foolish man in a ruthless place... the outcomes are to be expected. Get smart or get busy getting taken.

It's the crime centre of Thailand for 'farang' crimes! And 'yes' to your other two questions.

c'mon just put it down to be being an idiot, learn from it, and save yourself from the hassle of reporting it. You know you weren't tricked into going back.

Why not take the wheelchair, its worth about 30 k

I'm sorry to hear about the robbery, but what can you expect when you bring people (three of them) back to your hotel room by promising them you'll pay them for sex? Pattaya is disgusting! 👎

When i stay at the Nana hotel and you bring a girl in security at the lift stheir i.d card and before you leave they ring your room to check if everything was o.k. before the let them out. That seems to work very well and all the hotels should do it.
