BANGKOK - In a tragic incident, a second-hand jeans vendor shot a rival in a public market located at Soi Pracha Uthit 61 in Thung Khru, which ultimately resulted in the vendor's own death.

On 20th July, officials from Rat Burana Police Station were called to a shooting at New Plaza Market, Soi Pracha Uthit 61, Bangkok, at 6 pm. The investigation saw coordination with forensic experts, local hospital staff, and emergency responders.

The incident left Kanokpol Matchima, a 72-year-old jeans vendor, dead. He believed he had fatally wounded his competitor, leading him to shoot himself. Nearby, officers found a 9mm pistol and shell casings.

The injured included Chusak Amnatmongkol, also a jeans vendor, who was shot in the back and is now recovering at Suksawat Hospital. Phibun Rattanaleartseth, an innocent bystander, was slightly injured while trying to intervene and is safe at IMH Thonburi Hospital.

Witnesses reported that Kanokpol brandished a gun during an argument over customers with Chusak. Tensions reportedly escalated over time, culminating in this violent confrontation. Following the shooting, Kanokpol returned to his stall and took his life.

Kanokpol's wife, Noi Matchima, recounted how her husband admitted to the shooting before turning the weapon on himself to escape the consequences.

I guess he didn't have much of a Plan B

My wife, not known for her sense of humour, says this would not have happened if the vendor had a pair of Levi 504 jeans in his inventory. Logic? 5 + 0 + 4 = 9. 😀

That's my lottery numbers sorted for the week.

Very sad, tragic in fact.....has a Romeo and Juliet slant to it.

The 72-year-old bringing a 9 mil with him to his market stall reads like it's premeditated, unless of course this is the norm...

An idiot who senselessly  harms others will never have one.

Not knowing he won't get anywhere by doing so,other than criminal court and max stockade, or even execution chamber.

Some Thais may jump on that number.

Already given them to the wife......although she'll be on the phone to her sisters for a good two hours before they finally settle on what numbers to go for.....dear God!!!

Common to discuss for prolonged hours to determine which number to pick?

OMG yes.......Thank God I can't speak the language........even choosing a ticket from a vendor on the street can take 20 minutes......

Thailand has lost the plot. This stuff is extremely typical these days.

Unlike common gameshow, need not  to answer in seconds.

Amazing what some will do to earn a baht, almost brainless especially when kills himself after it, shot his competition in the back. Gutless & brainless

Plan B might have been to shoot himself first.......good job he went with plan A

I thought Girlfriend said Amarin TV reported that a shopper was going to buy Jeans.  They went to first shop and they offered a discount.  Whatever reason went to 2nd shop, asked for discount shop said No discount and customer told them the other shop offered discount and shopper left.
