I haven't eaten beef in over 10 years here in Thailand. Just chicken and fish. But the last time I did eat any, it was Australian and it was just fine. Do the Australians feed their cattle antibiotics

Summary from an expert

If you like a leaner, more “natural” beef flavor, Australian grass-fed beef is often preferred.

If you want richness, marbling, and buttery tenderness, U.S. grain-fed beef is the classic choice.

Both have high-quality premium Wagyu-style options with intense marbling, but they differ in climate, breed, and finishing methods.

Not much to choose from.....I dare say price will be the biggest factor.

From your description, the Australian beef seems healthier.

I would tend to agree.....and if I were Australian I would naturally tend to support my home economy.

I wonder if it's the fast food chains that will end up importing discount, low quality US beef. If it's a fast food chain, all you can taste is the grease anyway.

The US feeds the beef steers with maximum allowed everything.

The Aussies saw the chance to buy at clearance rate discounts. Nothing to see here except Trump just cost the US a lot of money.

I just wonder how this helps US consumers. Meat prices are already stratospheric. Taking more supply away to Australia just means higher demand and prices in the US. You really have to wonder who Trump is working for. Or maybe not.

Aren't we lucky to have a beef expert on here to tell us what we should eat.

Last steak I had was in Japan.  It was really good. It was even better than some of the high end steak houses I have eaten in the US.  Aussies are smart enough not to believe what Trump says.  In some countries the only way American beeef sells is it is cheaper than homegrown beef.  When I was in S. Korea American beef was cheaper than Hanuel(Korean) beef. Korean beef is pretty good as well.

And the US maximum allowed everything is generally way higher than any other developed nation's maximum anything.

The lowest food standards in the western world.

They've agreed to unban it so Trump feels like he's got a win. Everyone has worked him out.

It doesn't mean anyone is going to buy it.

This was probably the beef sent to Asia and rejected. But yes, Corn, beef, soy, wheat have all crashed due to Trumps stupidity. Wait until harvests start next month with no workers, no market and no crop loan payments. The implosion is just starting and it will get worse.

Grocery prices doubled in the four years under Biden. Couldnt be any worse

Australia banned US beef since 2003 because of concerns not enough was being done to stop beef being infected by mad cow disease (bovine spongiform encephalopathy or BSE). Imports were allowed in 2019.

I guess you could say in summary, the ban was originally "for health and hygiene reasons".

In 2019, Australia ordered that imported beef had to originate from animals born and raised in a single country, a challenge for the U.S., where herds are often mixed with cattle from Canada and Mexico. Without reliable animal traceability, most U.S. beef couldn’t meet the requirements. This issue may be impacted by the tariffs on Mexico and Canada today.

Are not conflating genuine concerns regarding vaccine take up and efficacy with a totally different issue...chemicals in food?

Right out of the blocks, some of his first moves were to remove some of the dangerous chemicals from the food supply.  And he's just getting started if the lefties and the Dems will quit with the "Stop Trump no matter how we much have to damage the country to do it".

US beef is awesome. The Australian beef has less flavour because it's leaner. Also not bad, but just a little less flavour.
