Question for Thailand Permanent Residents living in Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

Can you please share the proper station name and address, maybe photo, of the police centre in the old city where PR holders do their 5 year update of the dark covered Thai Police Registration book.

My son took me there before and we went to a new admin. centre behind the main older staion. But I can't remember the address / location (I'm over 80 years old so memory failing a bit). And son is out of town for several more months.

Any details appreciated, thenks.

สถานีตำรวจภูธรเมืองเชียงใหม่

Otherwise known as "Gong Muang" (address as above from another member)

I don't have a PR but the building (behind the main building) is the one I went  to for an interview when I did my citizenship. (So possibly the same place).

Thanks, much appreciated.

Can I please ask one more question. as mentioned my memory now not so good. I seem to recall the only documents needed are:

- Police registration book

- Passport

- New photo

- 800Baht. I think I've always paid cash. Anybody aware if you can nowadays pay by debit card?

Thanks again.

My Thai adult son took me to this police office today to do the 5 year update of my PR Police Registration book:

- Now moved to the back area of the original police station building, enter at the back of this building, office on second floor.

- Policeman who manned this ofice for years now retired, new guy very pleasant, can speak some English.

- Tabien Baan book is not required.

- Now require 5 new passport size photos.

- Update fee is 800Baht.

- Police guy explained to my son that late update over 7 days now incurs fine of 400Baht I day late or any time over the due date (written each time in the book) is 400Baht and this office (nationallly) now under pressure to impose fine of 400.

- I got a receipt (one receipt) for 1,200Baht (800normal fee plus 400 for being 1 day late).

- Police guy asked for confirmation I anm over 80 years old. Then he said to my son, '80 years old arlready so in the future son can do the 5 year update for me, no need for me to attend. Son must bring the registration book, 5 photos and 800Bagt fee plus 400Baht if 1 day or more over the 7 day grace time'.

But perhaps PR holders over 80 years old should discuss the 'son / family can bring the book in' for the update first before actually doing this.
