Canada to Recognise Palestinian State, Following France and UK

Canada is set to recognise a Palestinian state by September, Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced. This decision follows similar steps by the UK and France. However, Canada's recognition is contingent upon democratic reforms such as the Palestinian Authority holding elections without Hamas involvement.

Israel's foreign ministry has criticised the move, labelling it "a reward for Hamas." Presently, 147 of the UN's 193 member states recognise Palestine.

Carney highlighted issues such as Israeli settlement expansion and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as motivations for Canada's policy shift. The plan was unveiled at a news conference after discussions with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

Carney emphasised that recognition would depend on the Palestinian Authority's governance reforms and demilitarisation efforts. He noted that Canada's commitment to a negotiated two-state solution is no longer viable, given the current situation.

The announcement has faced backlash from both Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Canada's Conservative Party, which argued that it sends the wrong message in light of the recent October 7 terrorist attacks, reported the BBC.

Meanwhile, almost 200 former Canadian diplomats urged Carney to take this action, citing human rights concerns in Gaza and the West Bank.

Despite pressure from allies, Carney insisted that Canada's decision was independent, even though a formal recognition by France and the UK would leave the US as the only UN Security Council permanent member not acknowledging Palestinian statehood.

Israel's recent military response in Gaza has resulted in significant casualties and a deepening humanitarian crisis, further intensifying global focus on the region.

Getting rid of the nutjobs who are running Israel would help even more.

  • They aren't nutjobs, they have stolen a lot of land from Palestine and are war criminals, and they are the only reason why Hamas exists

  • That land is occupied for security reasons as time and time again when land was returned, muslim violence started again.  After all it is their goal to push Israel into the sea.

If that will help get food to those being starved to death, more power to them

Canada is a weak, dysfunctional country that is only good at taxing you to death. Their words mean nothing.  By the way, take a look at that woman's face behind Carney.  That says a lot...

  • Popular Post

Sad to see another Western country ruined by leftists.

But ultimately, Canadian voters deserve Carney.

  • Popular Post

Disgraceful.

But a triumph for all the anti-semites who helped elect this travesty of a government.

UK has not recognised it yet and hopefully never will

This is an absolutely brilliant move on the part of Canada and just shows the extent that Canada is on the right track. Just the fact that Trump is so angry and annoyed at Canada for doing this shows that they're doing the right thing. If Trump doesn't like it, then it has to be morally correct. He is almost inevitably a barometer of incorrectness and foul play.

The left in the West are clearly terrorist supports, if they were currently in full control in the US, they’d be following suit no doubt.

Very little actual support from throughout the Middle East for a Palestinian state other than a few half-hearted sound bites. Palestinians generally neither liked nor trusted by the Arab world.

What utter nonsense to assert that ANYthing "brilliant" could emanate from the mouth of a member of Canada's Liberal party.

But a neat demonstration of the alarming symptoms of T.D.S.

Without bothering to look up your quotes, I would venture to guess that quite a few of them refer to Trump and MAGA as being rather brilliant, which is quite comical.

Carney is smart. He has already outwitted Trump several times in six short months. Canada is replacing the US with multiple trade partners, they're finding buyers for their oil, their superb lumber, their steel and many of their other commodities and ignoring the US, and shunning the US like a clever nation should.

I agree with your sentiment, but the UK has not recognised the Palestinian State.  I don't care what France does or doesn't do; they are irrelevant to me.

The UK might, or they might not; the below links show a range of left or right wing media outlets stating the same thing.

I cannot see Starmer's preconditions being met, so if they do recognise a terrorist state despite that then he would indeed be stupid.

The orange retard in the WH is not gonna like. Up the tariffs to 1000 %.

I hope Canada isn't going to let itself being bullied into submission again.

The world has to unite against fascist America.

Let's not forget, the US needs the world more than the world needs the US.

Is essential if they want to be recognised as a state. However, many of the people voted for Hamas so I would say there is little chance of that happening.
