The Royal Thai Police has officially opened applications for one of its largest police recruitment drives in recent years, offering a total of 7,550 vacancies across multiple regions and units. The positions are open to candidates holding a Mathayom 6 or vocational certificate (Por Wor Chor) qualification.

The announcement, posted on the official Royal Thai Police Facebook page, marks the first day of registration for applicants seeking to join the force. Vacancies are available in divisions under the Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB), Provincial Police Regions 1–9 and the Border Patrol Police Bureau (BPPB).

According to the announcement:

• 7,000 positions are available within the MPB and Provincial Regions.

• The Border Patrol Police is offering 550 positions, including 150 for former conscripts.

Interested individuals are urged to act quickly, as the application deadline is 8 August 2025. The campaign is part of the national strategy to bolster police manpower and reinforce public safety nationwide.

The Royal Thai Police encourages all qualified and interested citizens to review the details carefully and submit their applications in time to become part of the nation’s law enforcement body.

How much does it cost to join?

I think it depends on whose brother-in-law you are, so can be as cheap as 20K - but I've heard 100K is the norm. That's to get your foot in the door, probably extra to have the examiner give you a passing grade.

Downside is they still have to provide their own gun, ammunition, and scooter. The reason you see many BIB buzzing around on a pink Scoopy is because it belongs to their Ladyboy sister. :coffee1:

The Royal Thai Mafia must need more cash, they are opening up 7550 positions to the highest bidders.

Is this real, or just more "brown envelope" supposition.

Sad if true.

Nobody fails exams here in Thailand, I was told it's 400,000 to join, maybe places like Phuket are more expensive with more crime here,

Well, even at a conservative 100,000 per position, that's 755,000,000 baht for the officers selling those positions, that'll take care of quite a few mia nois.

Wife's cousin joined recently........day one after graduating.....deep south!

I wonder if a good proportion of this 7,000 will find themselves in a similar situation.......thinking they were going to be wandering around Sukhumvit taking tea money.....whoops!

Are any of these positions in the Department of Inactive Posts?

My sister in law took an exam to join about 12 years ago in Bangkok. They were informed the pass mark was 400k baht, she failed! Much better off now living in Switzerland.

The Thai police force probably doesn't need more members; they just need to use the existing ones more efficiently.

But in realistic terms, you v=can never have too many officers stopping motorbike riders for not wearing helmets.

Yeah, right.  To simply join the force?  Don't believe a word of that hearsay.
