They got their time to adjust, I do think humans will survive much longer than 10 000 years longer, since we stopped evolving naturally, and are now depended on technology, medicine and do not any longer adjust to environment. I might be wrong, but the fittest of the fittest might do in the future as well, but we are more vulnerable than many other species that actually have lived on theirs planet for millions of years without evolving much since then.
