Buying stuff on Lazada- battle drill to get a refund...

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

When you buy something on Shopee that's not compliant, you get an immediate refund on your bank account, providing you payed online using Thai QR Pay.

Lazada, is not the same, they refund the amount in your wallet in their system, in other words, they still keep your money.

Wallet? I'm using the Lazada website, I'm 73 years old and do not ask me to use my smartphone for those operations.

Well, there's no wallet on the website, you have to use the mobile application...

Good ? Nooo, it's not finished, you do not have a Thai ID, so it doesn't work smoothly.

Even if you want to use the application, there's a problem because you are a foreigner, there's a special and not straightforward procedure for foreigners. You have to provide scans of your bank leaflet, your passport etc.

I got a similar issue a couple of months ago, and unfortunately, I forgot that bad experience with Lazada.

Lazada implemented recently the QR code payment system, like Shopee.

Hence, I thought they can refund you on your bank account like Shopee does.

But they still refund you in your virtual wallet, in fact the money remains with them until you claim it.

I leave it to you to think about their reasons why they behave like that.

I ordered a LiFePO4 25.6V 100 Ah battery, some 10, 000 bahts plus, but I later discovered that the announced lead time was November 2025, hence the cancellation.

Furthermore, I know that I'll get my money back, but this will take time and some significant efforts, joining the right person on the phone etc, I'm a retiree, I have time, imagine the nightmare for an active person, but even for me, it's extremely boring…

On Shopee, the money is right away back on your bank account, providing you paid using QR pay and not your Visa card like in the past.

Surprisingly, when you have such an issue with AliExpress, that by the way is Lazada's mother company, the claims are solved smoothly, and you get your money back without all that theatre.

Well as I just used the wallet on the laptop to transfer the refund to my bank account I would say I do know what I am talking about. You don't seem to know what you are doing

I get refunds from lazada to my wallet and withdraw it to my bank account the minute after i get the notification that the refund is in my wallet

Lazada and the wallet have worked perfectly for me on laptop, desktop and app for years. and I have gotten any number of refunds.

I usually shop on the desktop with a big display, add the items to my cart, and then check out or chat with sellers with the phone.

I always get Lazada refunds to bank account or credit card depending on how i paid, never wallet, maybe a recent change

I make all Lazada purchases with a credit card. The refunds take a while but they have always gotten there eventually.

Odd,

Refund is put in my wallet, usually on the same day they collect the item.

Then I click send to bank (mobile app), and 10 seconds later it's in my bank account.

@Garouda If you call customer service and provide some identity, they can send the refund to your bank account manually.

Sorry if I'm mistaken, but I do not have that feature, only what I posted earlier, the screenshot when I click on “wallet”.

I've just spoken to the Lazada Help Centre, and they sent me an email with a hardly to find form I eventually managed to fill in. I now have to wait 3 to 5 days before receiving that amount.

Do you use the mobile application on your desktop?

I'm using this https://pages.lazada.co.th/wow/gcp/th/member/login-signup, and no wallet in there, you are redirected to the mobile application…

I would appreciate that you likewise share your link...

My sole purpose is to share the burden I always experience with refunds on Lazada.

Actually, since they have implemented Thai QR Pay, I thought they would refund directly to my bank account like Shopee does, but it's not the case.

I'm glad to see that some people do not have that problem, but is it true???

I can hardly believe that Lazada is managing two different systems,

Indeed, I wish I had this feature, can you kindly please share the link to that Lazada page?

My apologies if I'm wrong.

Yes  there is but I have never been able to use it.

Always have call and complain that eventually gets you a refund  or last time a voucher (which for me is OK because I buy from Lazada quite a lot)

When I started using Lazada many years ago I was told that the Wallet was not available for foreigners. From the above that has obviously changed. Will try to open one on the laptop.

Have only had 2 returns in that time but recently had one, only a small amount, so requested a voucher. Ran into the same problem as the OP as you need the app to get the voucher number.

Otherwise Lazada has been good for small items.

My mean reason, simply sharing my experience and that guy was not helping me, he was simply arguing.

If he wants to help me, easy, he only has to share the link to the feature he’s using instead of posting a screenshot.

I guess you are using the mobile app, and you’re good at it. But you skimmed what I wrote, read carefully, I’m 73, and I’m reluctant to use mobile applications when I can avoid them.

You need to realise it is not that straightforward.

I used to use the website wallet without a problem. Then they made some changes and I needed to do something that I didn't want to do and ignored it. the website wallet is now unusable with a small balance trapped in it.

If you were happy to comply, fair enough but you cannot hold that against those that don't.

I used to do cash on delivery but have changed to card to make refunds easier, straight back to the card.

2C2P refunded you 483 THB.
It's back in your account and ready to use.

Wrong again, you asked for help so I told you where the wallet was located and you became abusive, that is not me arguing, it was explaining. Link was not needed, I told you where it was, seems all a bit difficult for you, maybe get the wife to help next time.

I can hardly believe that Lazada is managing two different systems,

I believe I just use the website.

It is the same account and wallet for all three devices.

I am traveling, and do not have access to the desktop

Had this issue; Lazada ‘refunding’ monies from a Mickey Mouse Chinese seller to this wallet and not the bank account, which is where it came from. Had a right old hassle trying to activate the wallet and move the refund—conflict between an old account and the web and app versions. I mean, why this extra step, just send me my money already? In the end they gave me a credit voucher, so perhaps request this on chat with them.

I just put money in the wallet, and refill it when it runs low.

Unless you only use it once or twice a year, what’s the problem with just getting a credit?

Because most people need to buy "something" for the rest of their lives.

There's always something people need.

So putting refunds in the wallet is no big deal.

You can buy coffee on Lazada with the money they refunded in your wallet instead of buying coffee at Big C that week to exhaust the money in your wallet.

It's not a big issue.

Yes, but what about the interest they are losing?

I did not ask for help, I solely wanted to share experience, and you contradicted me without giving any explanation e.g. a link to that feature.

I abused you!

What a serious offence…

I feel really so sorry…

You seem to be the kind of person who likes to argue on forums until you get the final word.

Be happy, you won, I leave you alone on the “battlefield”…

I just hope that Lazada eventually changes its policy because I've been buying things there almost since that platform was around here,

I don't know what you are on about the couple of times I have had to get a refund from Lazada they pay it into my bank account

Best to use a credit card. Card gets refunded straight away.

It is for exactly this reason that I do never prepay anything on Lazada. If COD is not available, then I do not buy it - simple as that.

Shopee is, as mentioned, no frills and the refund either instant or the payment gets released only upon the buyer confirming having received the merchandise.

Yes ,I pay with Debit card, I don't have and don't want Wallet .

I get all my Refunds right back to my bank account from the debit card , it just takes a couple days at the most.

Surely I experience the experiences you describe here in a different way.
To start with Aliexpress, they are not at all that prompt with refunds, recently ordered a batch of resistors from various suppliers there. After some time I didn't receive anything, so I complained, the answer was you received it, we don't refund anything.
As it turns out, it was sent to another address, far away from me, I was lucky that the recipient called me and sent it to me, because there had been a long time in between I had meanwhile ordered these parts elsewhere.

Than Shopee, I received an order that did not match the item shown, after returning it up to twice, I gave up, my money was lost.

Lastly my experience at Lazada, the microwave in my oven had broken down due to the age of the appliance (Sharp) the original part was no longer available but there was a supplier who had replacements, after sending photos of the origeel a microwave was sent by the supplier, but mwhat turned out, it was much too small, the mounting holes did not match but he refused to take it back. After 3 return requests, it was taken back with much annoyance, and yes in the wallet, and agree with you that arouses annoyance, but is easy to use with a new order.

As stated by the OP you have to verify the wallet using the mobile app.

I had the problem just a few days ago.
My wallet used to work ok, but I had not used it in a long time.
I had to cancel an item and get a refund, and thought ok to go to wallet.
When i tried to use it i could find my wallet and the amount credited on the account usingg my laptop at the website but i could not use the credit for a purchase. It said that the wallet required verification.
There was no verification system on the website.
I contacted customer service and we checked and i confirmed screenshots showing that there was no verification system on the website.
I was told that verification is done on the app using mobile, and they helped me to find it.

On the mobile i could not get the system to accept my passport matched the and selfie intially, but i got it to accept yesterday.
I was told i will have to wait to use the wallet until the verification is cleared. Hopefully later today.
