Is Belbien Brand of Zolpidem Available in Thailand?

Featured Replies

Belbien is a brand of zolpidem prescribed in Central Europe.  I know that zolpidem can be obtained via prescription in Thailand, but is the Belbien brand of zolpidem prescription (Manufactured by Hemofarm) available?  I find Belbien to be more effective for insomnia than other brands of zolpidem.  Thank you in advance for any and all replies!

Actually Zolpidem is off  market now in Thailand though some hospitals & clinicd  still have stock left over  or   import it themsrlves, often fom India.

I don't think anyplace  here has or had the brand you mention.

Its on and off for like 10 years, Once I was told waiting for restocking by MOPH (or similar agency) - the brand in Thailand is Dactive. I don't believe it has ever been fully stopped, just supply issues.

Yes both as branded Stilnox and also an Indian brand which I dont find as clean for some reason (Stilnox I'm wide awake and alert after exactly 8 hrs)

Yes, In the past, I  have gotten Dactive, which I think is the Indian generic, at Bangkok Christian Hospital.

Thank you. It's not discontinued as it was mentioned here by somebody.

It has always been illegal to buy this at a pharmacy though some pharmacies in tourist areas ignore this.

Previously registered brands' registrations have expired making them now off market. When this happens, existing stock remains until exhausted or expired but manufacturer no longer imports it until/unless they renew their registration.

Some hospitals may continue to import on their own.

Which kingdom? The kingdom of Cambodia, yes. Thai pharmacy outside of hospitals are not even allowed to stock it. Some, but not many, will sell it illegally, for 2 to 3 times the price you pay in a hospital.

Any particular reason given for this phasing out? And what has taken Zolpidem's place?

It is manufacturer's decision. Usuaĺly financial as registration entails costs.   If sales aren't high, not worth it.

On prescriptions available. Different manufacturers, different names.
