We don't have a maid; we live in the West.

We live in Bangkok. Sorry that you live in a fragmented part of the world.

Compared to where you live it is years ahead of you. Still I guess a nasty attitude is due to your environment. You will be fine when you grow up.

I don't think I will grow much more. I am nearly 80

So you have gone soft up top. I guess it happens

Most posters could do with ironing their bodies.....knock a few of the wrinkles out. Then be truly hansum man!

How else would I iron my daily Bangkok Post?

If you like quirky stay at the Thistle at Heathrow. This 60's brand  hotel has a trousers press built into the wardrobe.

Be careful I nearly decapitated myself trying to get it out!!

I have an iron.

I have no ironing board.

I consequently do not use an ironing board.

But, I need an ironing board.

What kind of ironing board might be best, given that I have all 100-percent cotton shirts?

I will iron, meaning have have someone else iron, trousers, socks, shirts, and sheets, only.

I could sleep better if I were to have someone iron my sheets.

I have a Philips iron, and it has been used twice.

I think I might get a heavier iron, and one which will emit much more steam....

So, probably I need more wattage for that.  Also, I need one that will not throw drops of water on the shirts, occasionally.

In my view, having a good iron, and someone to iron, is almost indispensable.

But, to be able to use either, then an ironing board is a must.

Maybe I will advertise to find a used board.

Living next to the universities is good because you can take your washed laundry to have it professionally pressed.

But, I live too far from the uni, these days.

This is one of the main things I miss.

I do, wife has aways hated ironing and has never deciphered the programmes in the washing machine. I am the Dhobi Wallah.

If you have the right kind of coat hangers, gravity can iron your clothes for you. 😊

Not some school uniforms.

Well, the wife irons all her stuff (she is a nurse), so she has to look presentable. On the other hand, I am retired and couldn't care less, but I do all the cooking and other household chores.

I use one and do all my ironing, have been doing it for 50 years

Your point is??????

I at one time had 7 ironing boards, along with seven irons and seven kettles.

They’re the first thing I buy when assigned to a new duty post in the period before my personal belongings shipment arrives.

For the same reason I have at times had multiple toasters.

I donated all but two of each to ‘Soldiers Off The Streets”

I've been doing my own ironing since I was a kid. After joining the US Marine Corps, I became even more obsessed with having a neat and tidy look. There's just no way I can adapt to the "sloppy" look that most people parade around in these days. I've tried it once, and I just didn't feel good about myself. I prefer to present myself in public with a more respectful and dignified look so as not to be perceived as just another one of those "nasty and unkept" farangs. I also won't put on a pair of shoes unless I shine them first, and if it is a sports shoe, I will clean them up first with a wet rag and soap so they will look new and tidy. To each his own, but I will continue to iron my clothes until I die!

I iron my shirts and pants ..    except when I want to use it I have to take all the junk my wife piles on it off

Wife has one. Uses it mainly for her homestay stuff. I refuse to have any clothing ironed anymore. Always hated doing it myself and while both wives have been happy to iron my stuff, now that I don't work and avoid social interactions requiring any semblance of pretentious, I prefer not to impose upon her.

OK, but maybe she likes to see you in nice ironed clothes.

Don't ignore that Thailand is a presentation society. My now departed wife kepy all my clothes (through our maid) well washed anf ironed and shoes well kept and well shined.

Was my wife pretensious? No. just normal Thai.

Me. I still iron my son's shirts and trousers, as and when. As a 91 year old that served in the military I find it therapeutic and it helps the 'trouble and strife.'

We have two. One for the wife as all our clothes and school uniform is ironed upstairs. And the MIL has one as well downstairs for her clothing.

I have a small foldable table top ironing board, takes up no space in closet at all.  Although like many, I usually buy wash & wear type shirts that don’t need ironing.  😃
