Do you still use tukcom mobile floor

Featured Replies

I was on WhatsApp group chat to see a elderly farang  81yo who was visiting Pattaya say he had been

what he believes over charged on his Samsung phone case he went to buy at tukcom

Now I must say before I'm rudely interrupted that I too have been not been  to tukcom since 2020 when I had several phones repaired that came back not working but....but...I apologised to them before giving them the Wai and moving on rather than arguing like some of you do !

Pay it and move on and you don't go back !!

Now could we get on with the original topic I'm talking about please .....anyway the elderly farang apparently went to the counter in tukcom phone shop and asked how much is that Samsung phone case ( no not doggie in the window)

"How much is that phone case? He asked

The lady then immediately pulled out the phone case ,ripped the plastic cover off and proceeded to put it into a paper bag in the matter of seconds ! Milliseconds to be precise

600 baht ! She shouted

Apparently he was ...and please don't quote me....gobsmacked

He said I didn't even want it, I'm only asking price !

Anyway to cut a long story short a big Thai  male person working with her came forward to tell him now already we packed you must buy it

But it now

He is arguing they are shouting,he said they weren't worried about the noise ,the whole place went silent as they watched him and the store couple shouting at him "you must pay .you must pay !

So he paid as he was embarrass after 10 minutes the security came the whole place listening to the lady shouting etc etc

Is it worth it ?

They said they will call police , and even other store holder shouting at him

I think this was Zoom meeting I was in.

You can see like 10 faces

..they cut me off sadly

How are you George said the face to me

I said I'm  "zoom zoom" before being cut off from the zoom zoom meeting and I said to the elderly farang face , just pay it mate ! Just pay it !

After listening to his story I said your 81 ! Why you care ?

Before that moderator cut me off the zoom meeting saying in his UK accent "your outta here George !

This customer was 81 ,what is a 81 yo man doing walking around tukcom by himself?

Look all I can say is to pay the price they are asking rather than argue and embarrassing your in front of the whole tukcom

Surely 609 baht doesn't mean a lot to you rather than argue and maybe get yourselves arrested !!!

I'm seeing this more & more now particularly with THIS generation of farangs who choose to argue and then get yourself into trouble and challenge Thai people rather than pay and move on

Pay it , and move on and thank them  for giving you the opportunity to buy a phone case rather than wait weeks for mail order !

Have some integrity towards Thai people and behave instead of complaints

Foreigner went into Tukcom store and asked how much for a phone case. The woman thought he wanted to buy it so opened the package and placed it into a bag, waiting on payment, as her co worker said it was bagged so now he must pay.

The OP thinks the foreigner should just pay and not argue, contrary to what should happen. The foreigner should just say he was just asking how much the case was, not that he wanted to buy it.

Not arguing when you're in the right has others taking advantage of not only you, but others afterwards.

It's not about who is taking advantage of who

It's a matter of arguing vs paying up and moving on

I prefer to move on and never use their business again and even thank them,

As the saying goes kill them with kindness

You don't argue. You just tell them you just wanted to know the price. You let people take advantage of you , especially if you're a foreigner, they'll keep doing it to others. Being nice to others isn't the same as letting them get over on you.

Yes but this elderly man and I could only see his face and shoulders on this Zoom Zoom meeting was very stressed with a red face about the ordeal before I was rudely and abhorrently cut off I told him your 81 just pay it rather than argue !!

Is it worth arguing for ?

Getting yourself stressed over a miniscule amount

Use reverse psychology like I did back in 2021 when they returned all my phones still not working and demand payment

Not only did I tip them I wai them

Little did they know ...I wasn't going back to them !!

Which again is allowing the store owners to take advantage of the man. If he was willing to pay, agreeing with the price,  he wouldn't have been stressed about it.

I remember and only just slightly, I went to buy a suitcase a few years ago in that luggage store near Jomtien beach opp that cash exchange place

I said how much is that?

, I can't recall the price she said but she said , but a agreeable price and then without me saying yes she loudly like aggressively immediately ripped the tag off

Now I don't really want it ..I didn't even want it ....1500 baht for that rubbish

but...she ripped the tag off pushed it forward to me.. so I had to buy it ,and I thanked her by wai her rather than get aggressive and loud rude

similar to the older man , or should perhaps we be politically correct and say mature aged man please there's no need for ageism !!!

Because it's happened to you before and you let that woman get way with it is why you're saying the man in Tukcom should just pay and let it go. You don't have to buy anything you don't want. Only if you open a package yourself and damage the package are you responsible for paying for the item. Nothing to do with ageism, nor do you have to argue, be rude or loud but being right.

The problem with Pattaya, so many miserable, penny pinching foreigners here, ready to complain about Thai's at the drop of a hat.

Now, this is worthy of posting... How would you feel if you ordered an omelette for 1500 baht and you were charged 4000 baht.

It's the last time I dine at this restaurant.

Well if you watch the video they weren't overcharged...it was a special.VIP dish served by the executive chef that's why it was 4,000 baht instead of 1500 baht

Them losing one customer means nothing to them. If you had influence and could leave a negative feedback, which isn't allowed here, that can make a difference. If you dropped phones off to be repaired and they didn't fix them, all you're responsible for is a small fee for their diagnosis, not the full repair amount, as they weren't repaired.

It's a completely rubbish story, totally fake!  I use Tukcom shops a lot, bought a used iphone 2 weeks ago.  Always polite staff, never any issues from any of the stores.

Good morning Simon.

Yep, I'm in there regularly, they are always polite and friendly.

The kid is always replacing a cover. They usually take out of cover for a test, no problem if you don't buy. I'm sometimes amazed at their patience.

Thankyou for showing these people dignity & respect Simon ,we must all do online courses to be better especially in the workplace ,it doesn't take much does it

And I do say online courses because sadly the online computer age has taken over and there's no face to face course anymore

Dignity respect even to those (Thai customer service staff) who may be having a bad day ,show kindness !!!

It's good to see you back as this site needs some fun. I like the cut of your jib please continue your old tricks  like:

  • going off topic then arguing with the reader about going off topic;
  • making up stories in a way that is a little too obvious that it didn't happen to upset readers to get more posts e.g. Simon ;
  • talking about how you dealt with the issue discussed previously in a way that was clearly inappropriate as a way of upsetting readers and getting more posts e.g. Fred Wiggy the Wigster;
  • making fun of certain groups e.g. the aged and then decrying the 'ism' associated with it e.g. ageism;
  • making grammatical errors - often in the title - or other errors about location etc to upset certain pedantic readers who can't help themselves but to comment; and
  • muddle language e.g. mixing up zoom calls with the slogan of Mazda e.g. Zoom Zoom for comical effect.

Thank you for your service .

I use the mobile floor every time I visit Pattaya and have NEVER had a problem like that. If anything, they bend over backwards to please a customer. The only thing I've had happen that I'm slightly disgruntled about - Samsung phone batteries die frequently, it's a known issue and I believe planned obsolescence. The phone techs initially quote me a price for their budget battery then, after going to get the quoted replacement, say "Solly, onry hab original Samsung, 300 baht more." This has happened every time (to my memory) and I've grown used to it.

So, yeah, this story doesn't pass the smell test.

Thanks for this, Simon.  As a regular can you guide me?  I have a Samsung A12 - (it must be worth something as an antique?)

I need an upgrade.  I just bought a 50,000 baht Bluetooth hearing aid but the necessary app won't download on such an antique.  How much might a more modern Samsung cost?  What are the pitfalls I must avoid?

Samsung phones are more expensive than the Vivo and Oppo phones in Thailand which are very affordable.

Check these phones out, I buy them regularly for my girlfriends, very good budget phones

Thanks for this.  Would the sellers transfer all my apps/details to the new phone?  Would my BKK  bank app transfer easily?

Good morning Mr Happy

Staff, Always very helpful.

BTW,  when you're Samsung decides to die, try a Vivo and Oppo phone, these are very good phones with good battery life.

It's been in obsolescence for quite awhile

Morning Mike, Your Apps will transfer easily, you will need an app an cable (usb C to C) to streamline the process.

Once you have installed BKK bank app you must go to the BKK bank for activation

Thanks for your prompt response.  Are you saying I have to do this myself?  Would the seller do it for me?  'an app an cable (usb C to C) to streamline the process.'
