If I were to put my thoughts about these folks into writing, I'd probably get a lifetime ban from AN.

Dumb and dumber:coffee1:

Should be 2 million and 2 years jail. And lifeguards should have weapons to shoot down aggressive animals for public safety.

Tourists from Kuwait are are a blight on Thailand.

They disrespect the Police and Thai locals.

They have no regard for others in general because their money solves all their problems.

Pattaya has had problems with Kuwaiti motor bike gangs racing at night and causing sleepless nights for locals and tourists alike.

They treat Thais the same as they treat the under privileged people in their own country.

Let them swim. Sharks need food also.

They treat foreign workers like dirt in their country, obviously so used to doing it they continue the practice abroad.

Try that behavior in Iran or Russia and see where it lands you.  Fine them and send them home, it might just deter others from doing the same.  You are a guest here!

It is important to note that the police consider the assault a criminal case that cannot be resolved by monetary settlement alone. They confirmed their intention to pursue legal consequences, with updates expected soon.

Good. Hope they learn a hard lesson. I mean who would do that in another country?

plenty of police on the beach as usual

Don’t be silly. The way it works is that the life guards report the assault to the police, the police investigate and identify alleged assailants, gather evidence to prove the case or not, and if proven, prosecute.

I guess you think  it’s cute to point out in a sarcastic manner that the police aren’t actually on the beach,  but it’s not that cute.

Feeble attempt to make Thailand look bad?

Probably all Thais can swim.

The ones who are life guards can. The others, not so much

In a shocking incident on Nai Han Beach, Phuket, an altercation erupted yesterday when foreign tourists allegedly attacked Thai lifeguards trying to enforce safety rules. Witnesses documented the assault and shared footage online, drawing widespread condemnation and prompting calls for police action.

The trouble began when one tourist, purportedly an Iranian national, chose to defy red flags signalling dangerous waters. Ignoring the warnings, he attempted to swim after hours, necessitating intervention from a vigilant Thai lifeguard. Rather than comply, the tourist reacted angrily, reportedly summoning four to five family members who then assaulted the lifeguard.

A bystander recounted online how one of the foreigners spat on the lifeguard before the group attacked him. In the video, two lifeguards can be seen defending themselves as the situation escalated. As tensions heightened, local witnesses intervened, leading the tourists to retreat from the beach.

In the aftermath, the lifeguards reiterated their commitment to beach safety, highlighting their role in preventing tragic drownings. They appealed to tourists to respect safety protocols, not only for their own protection but also to allow lifeguards to perform their duties effectively.

The incident highlights ongoing safety concerns in Phuket, following several recent drownings. On August 21, a foreigner drowned off Kata Beach, while another was severely injured. Notably, a local bystander had to step in due to the absence of lifeguards at the time.

That same day, a tragic event unfolded between Banana and Nai Thon beaches, where a Russian man tragically drowned after saving his girlfriend from perilous waves late at night, beyond lifeguards' working hours.

The Newshawk Phuket Facebook page tagged Thai government officials, urging swift action against the attackers. However, there has been no official response yet.

This incident underscores the delicate balance lifeguards must maintain as they work tirelessly to safeguard beachgoers. As the video circulates, it’s hoped the event catalyses an increased respect for the vital work lifeguards perform and fosters a culture of compliance with safety measures.

With the tourist high season approaching, local authorities may need to ramp up efforts to ensure both visitors’ safety and the working conditions of those dedicated to protecting them. For now, the video of this incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks lifeguards face and the importance of respecting the rules meant to prevent further tragedies.

Some people just think they know better and in this case usually end up in trouble or dead

Rounded up the women as well. Apparently the authorities are not accepting money for the assault and are going to prosecute the assailants.FB_IMG_1756341197633.jpg.3ed13b0d8be7226e5a144bce2ff719a2.jpg

Thailand loves these 2-week stay "quality tourists", but will make life hell on immigration red tape for the real quality foreigners who are decent, who spend, who own property very often and who stay longer then for a 3 week holiday.

Consider also that drugs are making these young tourists go mad. Nothing new.

But then, there is also a rudeness amongst many Thais when they speak to a foreigner. Not saying the life guard got what he deserved, as it is unacceptable to attack a life guard on duty, plainly doing his job.

Well...deport those tourist scumbags.

In cases like this as soon as compensation is paid the guilty party should be immediately dragged to the airport with their baggage and put on first flight out of Thailand with a banned for life stamp in their passport.

Heavy fine followed by instant deportation... word will get around eventually

The problem is that all over the west be it in hotels, shops or banks...the people go out of their way and lick the boots of all the Kuwaitis, Dubais, Abu Dhabis and similar..... so not surprising that they feel entitled anyplace. On the other hand they can be also more respectful and friendly in Kuwait or Dubai, compared the some of the UK, US,  Aussie or European drunks we have to put up with in Thailand.

very true. but look at all of us westerners who are licking the boots of the locals in Kuwait Dubai etc just to set up new businesses and get our own share of exploiting the labour there.......it's foolish entrepreneurs and people of the west who are giving such countries so much economic power and importance. just like how we did and are doing with China. Our own foolishness and greed.
