Americans seek escape for political reasons at record numbers

Many said that can never happen here (there).

But it did.

Including asylum applications (to escape persecution by the authoritarian Trump regime).
To LEAVE the USA. Not to enter.

Personally I didn't leave for political reasons but economic reasons were a big part of it (geographical arbitrage and better access to medical care). 

Some of the stats in this video are rather shocking.

Anecdotally and admittedly not a scientific sample, every person that I know still in the USA has talked about considering leaving now. Obviously the level of being serious about that varies a lot.

I have yet to meet an American in person here who is not apologizing for Trump. They all say they did not vote for Trump.

 

It does make me wonder what la-la land his supporters live in.

I’m here in the states you don’t see trump supporters they are keeping their heads down for sure.I did see one the other day at Costco getting yelled at by 3 people definitely put a smile on my face.his draconian policies are turning people against him in droves his health is failing along with his (policy’s) take heart never give up the ship!!here’s a good example if you are feeling down over the utter humiliation he’s putting us through….rember his b/day parade/fiasco?on that same day was the NO KINGS demonstrations…the largest demonstration in American history….that’s perspective keep that close to your heart when you feel down!NEVER give up the ship!!

I know a couple of Americans who said the same thing 'if he was elected'. As far as I know they are still there.

But what a lot of Americans of working age (who say they want to leave and will do so) fail to take into account, is that they can't just move to another country and start working there like they did at home. As we know here, if you are retired or are not working and meet the criteria, Thailand is a pretty good place to move to, but to actually come here and work (on a whim) is not so easy. Nor is it in most other countries.
