In a bid to bolster international confidence, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched the "Trusted Thailand" stamp, marking a significant step in enhancing the nation’s reputation as a safe and welcoming destination. Announced on Wednesday, this initiative aims to assure travellers of high safety standards across the tourism sector, with a keen focus on Chinese visitors.

The "Trusted Thailand" stamp will be awarded to tourism operators who meet rigorous safety criteria. This stems from detailed assessments covering essential areas such as site safety, secure financial dealings, transparency, foreign language proficiency, and visitor care. It's a move that not only promises safety but also a seamless experience for tourists.

Speaking at the launch, Jakkaphon Tangsutthitham, vice-minister of tourism and sports, emphasised the government's commitment to safety-driven tourism, especially given China's importance as a key market. He reinforced the government's strategy of integrating safety within its promotional efforts, collaborating with security agencies, and upgrading standards to maintain Thailand’s appeal as a top global destination.

"China is our key source market, and we must preserve trust among Chinese visitors," Tangsutthitham stated. "This launch reflects an invitation to work together in advancing Thailand's tourism towards safe, secure, and sustainable growth."

With safety being a decisive factor for diverse traveller groups such as families and solo adventurers, TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool highlighted the importance of this initiative. "The Trusted Thailand stamp is more than just a symbol; it demonstrates our commitment to making Thailand a destination where every visitor feels secure," she emphasised.

Through this initiative, TAT aims to lay down a robust safety framework that resonates globally, offering peace of mind to both frequent and first-time visitors. It represents a pledge to uphold international safety standards, making every journey to Thailand an assuredly delightful experience.

Beyond certifying safety standards, TAT has rolled out complementary activities to strengthen sector-wide confidence. These include public forums with key agencies, workshops on transport safety, and emergency procedure demonstrations. Targeted campaigns are also set to rebuild trust, particularly ahead of the high season, focusing on both short-haul markets like China and long-haul ones in Europe and the Americas.

The initiative also aims to facilitate transparent and secure interactions with tourists. By incorporating features such as secure financial transactions through recognised global platforms, tourists can enjoy a hassle-free experience.

In summary, the "Trusted Thailand" stamp is ingeniously designed to symbolise Thailand’s resilience and foresight in adapting to the evolving needs of global tourism. As negative reports can significantly hinder confidence, this initiative stands as a beacon of assurance.

With targeted strategies and a community-centric approach, Thailand is not just recovering but setting a benchmark in modern tourism. By focusing on safety, the kingdom is poised to remain at the forefront of global travel destinations, assuring every visitor of a joyous and safe sojourn.

By committing to safety and transparency, Thailand aims to remain a destination of choice, bolstering trust and ensuring memorable experiences for travellers from all corners of the globe. At an impressive investment, much like a stamp of quality assurance, the "Trusted Thailand" initiative positions the nation as a leader in safe tourism for the foreseeable future.

Another really dumb idea that does nothing to address any of the real issues.

  • How much does the "Trusted Thailand" stamp cost?

  • A stamp is going to make things safer , they should be giving amulets out , especially the one that makes you bulletproof , and everybody will be safe as houses ,except it would not prevent

Why?

Because Thailand is bevoming the new Chinese province..  Everything is focussed on Chinese already. Look around you see a lot Chinese language even in the MRT and airports. And the influence of the Chinese Government is also here , as XiPing was not happy with the casinos and who knows what more they are influencing

The mental gymnastics this Thai government performs to mask their short comings is truly astounding!

It's not that surprising if you understand Thai culture a bit. Thais are not allowed to challenge or even bring up the real issues plaguing Thailand, so they come up with solutions to problems that never existed.

I understand Thai culture and mind set very well. I have been married to my Korat wife for the last 16 years. What you stated above basically describes Thai people / culture in a nutshell.

That's cool, well since you brought her up, after 16 years has your wife become more Western minded?  Does she call out stuff like this article?

good question. She has definitely seen Thailand in a different light after living in the states for the last 15 years and she now understands why foreigners see LOS for what it is.

She has told me repeatedly and I have heard the same thing from other Thai living aboard that they have no desire to ever live in Thailand again, only to vacation and visit their relatives.

Sounds like the con man line, “trust me“. Always a bad sign when you hear it.

Thailand, the hub of slogans

Is it significant that in the line of logos on the wall at the back of the stage, the RTP symbol had GRAB next to it?

Is it equally significnat that the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports choses to call himself a Vice Minister?

Seems that if they give out trust worthy stamps, the implication is that those without stamps are by default untrustworthy

As a tourist I might rightfully ask "Why aren't all these sorts of businesses trustworthy?"

We who live here can hazard a guess....

Will this stop all the tourists drowning on Phuket's beaches?

Ask any print shop in Khao San Road. Do you want self-adhesive?

My wife has been in the states for 11 years now and loves it here. she wants to go back when she retires. She knows she's giving up a lot and loves the Seattle winters and hates the heat.
