War in Sudan

Featured Replies

Att: Greta Thunberg...From Al-Jazira:

Sudan’s civil war between the Sudanese armed forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary has produced the largest humanitarian crisis in the world.

Estimates suggested tens of thousands of people have died from combat and thousands more have perished from disease and hunger brought on by the war, now well into its third year.

The RSF has trapped an estimated 260,000 civilians, including 130,000 children, in el-Fasher, turning the city into an “epicentre of child suffering”, according to UNICEF.

Most are surviving on animal fodder known as ambaz – the residue of pressed oil seeds, such as peanuts, sesame, and sunflower – which they grind into a paste; however, even this is running low.

About one-third of the children in Mellit, a city the RSF controls near el-Fasher, are severely malnourished, according to figures obtained by Relief International and shared with Al Jazeera. That is more than double the World Health Organization’s threshold for a malnutrition emergency.

A cholera outbreak is compounding the humanitarian crisis across the vast region of Darfur, according to Adam Rojal, internally displaced people spokesperson in Darfur. On August 30, he said the water-borne disease killed nine people that day and infected a total of 9,143 people, with 382 deaths, since the epidemic first started in June 2025.

Food convoys from the United Nations and other nongovernmental organisations rarely reach the neglected region of Darfur due to road closures and bureaucratic impediments. Human rights groups and local activists accuse both sides of weaponising food.

The World Food Programme told Al Jazeera that it provides electronic cash assistance to vulnerable people in North Darfur, but no food convoys have reached the region for more than a year.

A UN food convoy was hit by a drone strike in North Darfur on Friday, the second aid convoy in three months to be targeted. The RSF and SAF traded blame for the attack.

There is a similar hunger emergency in South Kordofan due to an RSF siege on the cities of Dilling and Kadugli.

Not so much not interested, as much as no one pays her to be interested, death and REAL starvation in the Sudan are

not enough in the news to care.

  @WDSmart

Are you busy at home writing a solution to the SAF RSF conflict in Sudan ?

What would your solution to the problem be ?

Israel is a partner and Allie, and we emotionally reckoning Israel as an European country.

Everything from fruit to weapons and tech we deal with Israel. Sudan is a country where China and Russia have heavily invested in also with Russian based. Not sure what happened to the USA bilateral donations and what they get back there for now, but also USA have investments there for decades. Need to refresh the status q

However, Greta Thunberg is a enemy of state who wants to stop oil production in Europe, before we have sustainable solutions to our energy "problems"

Her philosophy with her backing politicians and organizations have put us a decade behind to become self sufficient and sustainable on cleaner Energy such as gas from allies, and instead related on temporary import from Russia.

@ezzra  Thank you for starting this thread!  It's a good thing to shine some light on conflicts which have escaped world attention.   Hand on heart- How many of you have ever heard about an international protest against the civil war i n Sudan and other civil wars in Africa?

Some additional details  from the Center for Preventative action of the Council on Foreign Relations about the situation in Sudan since April, 2023:  More than fourteen million have been displaced, giving rise to the worst displacement crisis in the world. Nearly three million displaced Sudanese have fled to unstable areas in Chad, Ethiopia, and South Sudan, overrunning refugee camps. The UN continues to plead for more support as more than thirty million need humanitarian assistance, and deteriorating food security risks are triggering the “world’s largest hunger crisis.”

https://www.cfr.org/global-conflict-tracker/conflict/power-struggle-sudan

The same article  also states the current civil war was preceded by two earlier civil wars.  "The second Sudanese civil war from 1983 to 2005 killed an estimated two million people, with widespread documentation of famine and atrocities."

And there is a far deadlier conflict than Sudan:

5.4 million people have died in Democratic Republic of Congo since 1998 because of conflict, report says

This article was published in 2004 in the British Medical Journal .  It stated:

According to figures released last week by the International Rescue Committee, the legacy of conflict continues to result in as many as 45 000 deaths every month.

“The conflict and its aftermath, in terms of fatalities, surpass any other since the second world war,” said the relief agency’s president, George Rupp.  https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2223004/

In June of 2025, the Global Conflict Tracker of the Center for Preventative Action noted:  "Since 1996, conflict in eastern DRC has led to approximately six million deaths."

Let that sink in.  SIX MILLION deaths and it's doubtful more than a tiny fraction of the general public of Western and Asian countries are aware of this enormous loss of life.  You would think Greta might at least mention it, but as far as I can see, she never has.  And how many articles about the conflict in the DRC have you seen in the mainstream media?  Apparently there's a huge need for a protest group to remind the world Black African Lives Matter.

there is no just peace if it includes the existence of Israel, the 'little devil,' and certainly not if it is done in coordination with the 'big devil.'

You can sum up all of this in sharp words: “Anti-Semitic ideology is not just moral blindness; it is also a community that legitimizes hatred. People feel free to say things publicly that they would have been ashamed to think before.” He says the British government has shown “dangerous indifference” to the rise in anti-Semitism in recent years, and that if strong action is not taken, “events like the Manchester attack will be just the beginning.”

A writer who witnessed the massacre in the UK last week writes: “I left Trafalgar Square feeling sick. Not just because of the curses, but because of the knowledge that anti-Semitism has once again become legitimate – wrapped in slogans of justice and human rights.” Said’s column ends with a clear warning: “Britain is falling asleep in the face of a dangerous phenomenon. If we don’t confront it now, we will find ourselves in a place where Jew-hatred is once again considered enlightenment.

What is your ( @Nick Carter icp ) opinion of what the problem is?

Include the terms 'Israel and Jewish'' and it'll be all over the world in a day as well as the UN, that at the moment acts as

if its happening on Mars.

Say anything to criticize Israel and the Israel lobbies and their non-Israeli proponents will label it "antisemitic."
The problem is that the term is worn out and over-used, and has lost it's meaning and impact.  Globally people are aghast at the Israeli government's genocidal bombing of Gaza which have killed upwards of 65,000 Palestinians.  Global citizens are tired of seeing dead Palestinian families.  So they protest the killing and are then labeled "antisemitic."  Few globally are buying it the label and the ad-hominid attack that presupposes that label.
Yeah, sure.  There are morons out there who were raised to hate the Jewish religion.  They are out there.  But criticizing the Israeli government isn't a condemnation of Judaism.  It's a condemnation of poor governance and a critique of the government's bombing of civilian infrastructure and the killing of civilians in Western Asia.

The problem is that people only take an interest in wars if it involves Israel .

The World sends 1000's of food trucks in everyday to feed the Palestinians , yet just over the Red sea , 500 000 children died of malnutrition .

What have the U,N and charity organisations been doing for the last few years ?

Why havent they bothered to feed the Sudanese ?

That is NOT true.  Millions of Jews inside and outside Israel criticize the policies of the Netanyahu government and they certainly aren't labeled as antisemitic.. The same holds for tens of millions of non-Jewish "friends of Israel" across the globe.  Whether or not criticism of Israel crosses the line into antisemitism depends on the form and content of the criticism.  Some criticism of Israel, on the pages of AN and in the real world,  is antisemitic and some isn't.

The problem is that some people are accusing Israel of war crimes, genocide, apartheid, ethnic cleansing, etc., which many of us believe are false accusations.  A few even go as far as to question the right of Israel to exist as the homeland of the world's Jews.  Making false accusations against Israel and disputing its right to exist are indeed antisemitism.

Different types of antisemitism are at play today.  By the mid-19th century, antisemitism based on Judaism as a religion ("Christkillers," blood libel, etc.) had widen to include hatred of Jews on a socio-economic basis, Jews secretly control financial markets, governments, media, etc.  Israel became an easy target for those who believe Jews have too much power in the world.
