Wise transfer from UK now doesn't show as foreign transaction

Featured Replies

Do any of you have this problem with your government pension sent from DWP ??

My payments from DWP to my BB acc. are always shown as BTN in my bank-book!

My company pension is always FTT.

ALL my WISE UK transfers to Bangkok Bank arrive as International Transfers, FTT in your bank book. Did one this week for my IO requirement. As always, it arrives just after 14.00 on the following day

  • Makes perfect sense.  Problem is immigration. They have very set in stone way of doing things.

  • People don't seem to have issues using Kasikorn for the monthly 65k, maybe time to switch

I'd been informed by a friend that his foreign transaction from a UK bank to Bangkok Bank this month using Wise didn't show as a foreign transaction, but as a transfer from Kasikorn Bank. I had made a transaction on 1st September from my UK bank via Wise for the THB65,000 monthly income retirement visa method as I have done for several years now so I checked the credit advice sent from Bangkok Bank and sure enough my transaction also showed this. It would appear Wise have sent the money to Kasikorn and they have then transferred it to Bangkok Bank. I am going to do my 90 day report tomorrow so I will ask if this is an issue (at Petchaburi Immigration) and update this topic afterwards. Just wondering has anyone also had this issue recently and if so, has anyone enquired with immigration as to whether it is an issue that will cause a problem when extending their visa?

I always used to support transfers on the statement with the Remittance Advice, this will specify remitting bank and recipiant bank. A bit more definitive than a Credit Advice.

I gather they are available from Wise, think they refer to them as Transfer Receipt.

As I have said, the question is how it wil be viewed by immigration, which I'll find out tomorrow.

We should all   be aware that the word "viewed " has little significance between immigration offices.

I  did income method for many years and always supplied the supporting documents in respect of transfer and source, never relied on how it was viewed.

I have the same issue and started a similar thread.  Seven years without any coding problems.  I am planning to stop at immigration here in Chiang Rai to see what is needed for my annual extension this December.  I’ll be there Tuesday since Monday they are busy accepting extensions.

My last Wise transfer 8 September went via Kasikorn so no Foreign Transfer (FTT) code, in my passbook.

Just come back from Kasikorn Bank, Hua Hin, to pick up a credit advice receipt, took a print out of the Wise transfer information. Fairly painless, the lady on the desk took a long time inputting info into the 'puter, but was able to walk out with the document. Bit of a relief as I will be visiting the IO on 1 October to extend my retirement visa.

You didn't say whether you sent to Bangkok Bank or Kasikorn?

Bangkok Bank ,(the FTT code in the passbook is Bangkok Bank's code)

Was there a charge to get the credit advice receipt or was it free?

There are a couple of threads on this issue running on the Banking forum:

https://aseannow.com/topic/1371522-65000-income-problem-with-wise

https://aseannow.com/topic/1372164-change-in-coding-monthly-wise-transfer-into-my-bangkok-bank-acct

I initiated a Wise transfer at just after 08:30 this morning, which resulted in a credit to my BBL account at 14:01. Since this was correctly classed as an International Transfer, the problem identified by the OP is now, I think, behind us. But clearly a PITA for all those affected.

THB 20,000 started on Saturday to Bkk Bank. Arrived 15 minutes ago as International Transfer after a chat with someone there regarding tagging ALL my Thai accounts.

Hope Wise are back on track

So you believe those on Facebook more than ME, who has just had an International Transfer?

I said last week that the two earlier ones were not, and went via Kasikorn.

Anyone else got evidence like this please. My big one is on 1st October, which MUST show as International for Mr IO.

Just did a test transfer of 100 EUR to Bangkok Bank for long term stay.

UNCHANGED BS

DEP TRF FR E-CH

If I get my mood together I will do another visit at the branch this week and see what I get.

Customer service promised to "escalate" with the branch about the credit advice which is a complete riddle to them.

Have WISE tagged your accounts?

What does that mean?

They are in a list to select from?

I have "Wisetag" QR code for whatever purpose...

I have been logging on and doing transfers without confirming them. If it is under 100.000 Baht the sechuled time is seconds. Once over 100,000 Baht it is 6 hours. I did them about 0800. I will be sending more then 100,000 on Thursday. I hope it will be coded correctly for my visa.

Don't know what tagging them means.

As for transfer time.

My transfers from Oz bank to WISE wallet to Thai bank account are instant

You must be using a different WISE than I do. See my post above, both 4000 and 500 Bht transfers took until 14.05 the next day, BECAUSE I ticked Long Stay option. They still went through Kasikorn so arrived at my Bkk as Deposit/Transfer thru e Channels. Today's 20,000 was FTT.

For years up to this, my monthly transfer for Immigration were coded. FTT or International. If I initiate the transfer before 6 in the morning, and tick Personal or Family expenses, it arrives at 14.05 the same day, if not, 14.05 the following day. I get a message or email from my WISE to tell me this.

As far as I know, tagging means that the money should ALWAYS go to that Thai account. But apparently, not always.

Set that up years ago when I first started using WISE and it has only failed once in the past, and twice last week. Luckily, those transfers were not for Mr Immigration.

I do not know whether it is better to convert your home currency to THB in your WISE account and then send THB to your Thai bank. Will try next month, cost is about the same.

The transfer again went through Kasikorn.

Different in sending GBP?

At Kasikorn I was sent away to Bangkok Bank.

Catch 22.

Showed the WISE transfer confirmation with that reference number of Kasikorn. Blank stare.

Transfers go to Thai bank.

The thing is eg when I transfer to my kasikorn a/c from abroad the funds can land in eg BBL and then onto kasikorn. Keep in mind there is no actual physical money.

The transfer can show up as internal bank to bank transfer.

Try asking bank for the 12 month statement in Thai language.

That is why you need to ask WISE to TAG your Kasikorn account.

You can send EUR to Kasikorn Baht account. They will do the exchange.

What WISE actually does?

Send Baht from a domestic account?
