Americans’ views of President Donald Trump’s job performance remain negative amid a flurry of activity from his administration on tariffs, immigration and public health, according to the latest NBC News Decision Desk Poll powered by SurveyMonkey.

Respondents said they prefer leadership with political experience over outsiders who will shake things up, amid a second Trump presidency defined by sweeping and rapid change.

Just over 4 in 10 Americans, 43%, approve of Trump’s job performance in the survey, similar to his standing in June, while 57% disapprove. Trump’s weakest ratings are on economic matters, with 39% approving of his handling of inflation and 41% approving of his handling of trade and tariffs.

4 in 10 Americans doesn't mean anything. Politics, tariffs ...  is too complicated for most people to grasp.

Sam Altman told Trump "thanks for being pro business".

I think for a lot of Trump supporters it's not the policies that they have an issue with, even some of us moderates are in agreement with some of his policies, it's the extremely clumsy, gruff, nasty, heartless, makeshift manner in which the policies are being implemented that seems to be turning a lot of people off. Including many of his supporters, some of whom likely had no idea the man was such a nasty piece of work.

Go ahead and keep trying to convince yourself of what is inevitable, which is a drop in his support from his supporters. Once the job losses start mounting, once the businesses start closing, and once the inflation really kicks in, people will start believing the reality of this insane and misguided trade war.

Trump is imposing massive taxes on the American consumer.

And here's the only significant result (from the survey in the OP):

"Just 8% of independents report positive feelings toward the actions of the Trump administration, far lower than the 56% who report negative feelings."

It is unlikely that core GOP or Dems will change their mind about Trump. Independents will be a key determinant of the next election's result.

Not trying to convince myself of anything.  Simply made a statement backed up by the graph & link I posted.   Reading comprehension goes a long to understanding what people post.   Might want to reply to my post, which was accurate, instead of what ever your trying to do, imply or state.

Is there any president that hasn't dropped in the polls after elected ?

He's not imposing any new taxes on the American consumer that 'buys USA', that I've read about.   If anything, he's cut taxes, or so I read, about people complaining about the largest tax cut in some time.

Along with cutting taxes on folks, myself included, that receive Social Security.

Not that I care about taxes on American consumers, since I'm not one.

Have a pleasant day

He's indirectly imposing new taxes on American consumers who "buy USA", as US made products can also include imported components.

I don't believe any tax on Social Security has been cut since it was taken out of the big beautiful bill.

There was a New deduction: Effective for 2025 through 2028 for individuals who are age 65 and older can claim an additional deduction of $6,000.

I also believe the deduction of $6,000 is after your AGI. Since the AGI is what is used to see how much of your Social Security is taxable I don't think it will have any impact on the amount of Social Security that is taxed.

Sorry I know this has nothing to do with the subject of this thread but I read the lower taxes for people on Social Security and just wanted to know for myself if this is true. You can just ignore this post since I typed it more to understand this myself.

I am sure the over 65 $6,000 deduction will reduce your tax overall so you are correct.  Also people getting tips and people working overtime will get a tax break.

I don't think people under 65 and on Social Security will see any change as well as anyone that does not turn 65 until after 2028.

The tariffs end up being an enormous tax levied against the American consumer, it's plain and simple. You can dress a person in royal garments, that doesn't mean he's not a circus clown, just like you can dress a policy with fancy words, but that doesn't mean it's not a dumb policy and a tax on Americans.

This is another example of a very wrong headed, and downright stupid way that Trump is cracking down on foreign workers.

U.S. immigration authorities said Friday they detained 475 people, most of them South Korean nationals, when hundreds of federal agents raided Hyundai’s sprawling manufacturing site in Georgia where the Korean automaker makes electric vehicles. Agents focused on a plant that is still under construction at which Hyundai has partnered with LG Energy Solution to produce batteries that power EVs.

The operation was the latest in a long line of workplace raids conducted as part of the Trump administration’s mass deportation agenda. But the one Thursday is especially distinct because of its large size and because the targeted site has been touted as Georgia’s largest economic development project.

Video released by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Saturday showed a caravan of vehicles driving up to the site and then federal agents directing workers to line up outside. Some detainees were ordered to put their hands up against a bus as they were frisked and then shackled around their hands, ankles and waist.

You have to attribute some of the dollars weakness on the whipsaw tariff policies and the lack of confidence in the dollar. It has after all dropped nearly 10% since Trump took office, and it continues to drop against many currencies. Sure there are other factors at work with the Thai baht, but the weakness of the dollar and Trump's hubris and ignorance certainly do not help.

If single, I'd have to pay taxes on my SS.   Married, and we're borderline already, so an additional 'deduction / tax cut' is welcome.   As any COLA the next couple years, would have probably put us in the 'taxable' side of income.

Over 65-66-67 pretty much includes most of SS recipients.
