  • Lock him up. He already wriggled out of the first try. No bail, no appeal, like monopoly, "Go straight to jail".

  • He will not serve one day in a prison cell.

  • Well you could knock me over with a feather at this time. No way I would predict this.I thought he was tipped off and all was okay for his return. Now lets see if he (actually ) spends time in a

I wonder how much it will cost him this time to leave through a back door and straight to a private airstrip, this man will never see the inside of a thai jail cell, if he is jailed I'd be shocked

well prepare to be shocked

I must admit that I couldn't see the purpose of trip to Dubai (it was always going to be Dubai) within a few days of the hearing.

He's a billionaire with plenty of places to hang his hat and access to unlimited resources.

I bet right now a team is being assembled, there's one guy going around visiting the others, everyone doing this  image.png.e78aa9472ffa657e22b561c8e25789b3.png   whilst saying "you sunnaovabeetch, I'm In".

Then later they'll all prep in a hangar and move out in a black semi trailer to spring the "ol' man".

Also, there'll be one hot badass karate chick

From the prisoners handbook

During weekdays, prisoners shall wear the uniforms. According to the
Regulation of the Department of Corrections on Prisoner’s Clothing,
B.E. 2538 (1995), there are two colors of prisoner’s uniform specifying
different types of prisoners: brown uniform for people on remand and
blue uniform for convicted prisoners.

This is very  doubtful as he has already had a pardon

Hard to believe that there is only one pardon allowed per person.  The King is not constrained by laws. I don't care one way or the other. I just know a bit about how things work in Thailand.

I don't really understand the hatred from expats.  It's not like he's any worse than the other politicians, or that Thailand will suddenly become uncorrupt and thrive under the next one.  In fact, he's about the only one I've seen with the stroke to keep too many snouts out of the trough.

1) He put an end to the non enforcement of bar closing times.

2) By allowing the common people at least the illusion that they had some say in running the country, he rocked the establishment, with whom many long time expats rather identified.

BREAKING! Corrections Department Transfers "Thaksin" from Bangkok Special Prison to Klong Prem Central Prison for High-Security Detention At 5:10 PM, a convoy of prison vans from Bangkok Special Prison moved to Klong Prem Central Prison. Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra was seen sitting by the window, wearing a blue shirt and black shorts - the uniform colors for inmates with final court sentences at Bangkok Special Prison. When reporters shouted questions, Thaksin did not respond but turned to look at the reporters and smiled. Klong Prem Central Prison is one of Thailand's 5 maximum-security prisons.

And he was responsible for over 2500 deaths

He might have sensed he was going down,  and being the businessman he is with extensive international interests, he could have some business to settle before being incarcerated.

I suspect so. He is going to effectively be out of circulation for a year. Whatever conditions he serves his sentence in, in jail or perhaps in due course under "home arrest" he will be incommunicado for that year.

Sis won't be happy.

Due to his advanced age and position is it likely that he will be kept in a special wing reserved for such inmates?

I can't see them putting him in with the general population, but after the  Police Hospital episode, who knows?

Would that be a big fat, smelly rat?

He cannot appeal. He will not get a royal pardon. He will stay in a special cell with prison guards serving him good food and allowing him special privileges, like internet, large TV, room for receiving guests at any time. Remember Kamnan Poh?

Not according to Anutin:

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul confirms on Tuesday afternoon that there's no such thing as a "VIP" treatment for inmate Thaksin Shinawatra. He added that Thaksin's imprisonment is in accordance with the law. He won't interfere and emphasizes that everyone will receive justice.

Inmates in Klong Prem do not have to wear prison clothing except when they have to be outside the prison.   Basic clothing (civilian) is available for purchase (and wear) at the prison shop.   Ask me how I know.

He could have gotten rid of the drug scrounge if war on drugs campaign could carry on.

He kept the southern Muslim terrorists at bay

Did not see that coming.......still only 1/8th of his original term.

Apparently, parole is no longer applicable and it would be extremely unusual to receive a second pardon from the king.

His only way out would appear to be another medical episode, which is really pushing his luck.

Im sure he will not be in general population but some type of upgraded detainment. Let's see how long he last and more importantly how much news reporting continues on an on-going basis.

I would if you hadn't posted that "BS" comment/request.  I, on the other hand, never post BS, if you can find some, quote it here.

I doubt you will get very little news coverage only from those visiting him, namely little miss muppet and others.

It would be easy time. He’d hardly be locked up in a cell in the ‘Hilton’ with 100 others with a hole in the ground.

He's in Klong Prem and he will, like all the others, be in a "dorm" cell containing around thirty inmates, and none of the accommodation has a hole in the ground facility.

There is no "Special", "VIP" or "Executive" paid-for accommodation there, if there was he wouldn't have needed to perform his stupid PGH stunt.

So much certainty & confidence from so many hugely knowledgable and expert AN readers! And much of it contradictory!

My head is spinning.

Won't he?  Where will he be, then, what IS the alternative prison accommodation that you have information about?

Correct, because of his age it will be served at home.

Nonsense, he was transported straight to Klong Prem.
